South park did that the best. Also I think Smoking is the only thing that curbs appetites that doesn't cause anal leakage.Phrozenbot wrote:

I guess, it is the fact that the difference lies in the choice, that eludes you.Phrozenbot wrote:

you should not have the choice to, above everything else, add smoking to my list of health issues.

I dont get this condescending thing from non smokers...
I'm 18, 5 11 and I weigh 8 and a half stone, I smoke and I'm a vegetarian.
Yet i've never been fitter, these people you see who are overweight, unfit and generally a mess were like that before smoking..

My problem is with taxes singling out smokers in an attempt to force them to quit. No one should have the ability to tell me what I can and can not put into my body (legal substances only of course).
Of course not. The government shouldn't have any say in what I put into my body. This includes all currently illegal drugs too.nlsme1 wrote:

I find car emissions annoying and they're harmful.. We should tax that too. Also passing gas... Methane, can kill you -so we should tax that also. Cheese burgers and fried foods are bad for you and they smell -lets tax those as well.

I guess you feel any regulatory body should be disbanded?
Everyone has to eat, so the cheeseburger and fried food fails. Everyone farts too. Not everyone uses tobacco.cpt.fass1 wrote:

He is not saying he wants it closed for corruption. That is another issue. He doesn't like the idea of someone telling what he can and can't do. Again, would you like to see all regulatory bodies done away with, that is not the same question as "would you like corruption to be dealt with?".
Huh hah?cpt.fass1 wrote:
Ok why don't you lcok yourself in a garage with as many packs of smokes as you want, light them up and sit there for a while. Then do the same thing with a car, come back and let me know which one is more harmfull.
Because I sure am trying to find the best way of killing oneself. I'm talking about how it affects your body when you walk down the street. While I may not get lung cancer or coronary heart disease from breathing second hand smoke it doesn't make it less dangerous on your overall health. Car fumes doesn't damage your health in as many ways as tobacco smoke. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of chemical compounds compared between car fumes and tobacco smoke. I mean there's ten times more more chemical compounds in tobacco smoke than there is in car fumes, and most of the smoke compounds are made of pure toxic that are used in paint thinner, Zyklon B, Butane, gasoline, oil, etc. There's no doubt which is worse on your overall health when you walk on the street.
But sure, if you want to kill yourself straight and fast, then go for car fumes.
Some people have this strange way of thinking, if I don't get a lung cancer or die out of brain cancer from second hand smoking, it isn't really that harmful after all. It doesn't seem to matter that my throat might be sore for whole fucking life because of that, hairs might be dying 10x faster, eyes are bleeding, skin is everything but healthy, sperm is unworthy, migraine is unbearable, mucous membrane is fucked up, liver is just a blob, the list goes on. Tobacco smoke is "trying" to cause health problems all over the body, unlike car fumes that cause damage mainly to lungs and brains.

Yeah and people still choose to smoke. It's their choice in life. It's actually healthier to smoke and exercise, eat healthy than to eat junk and sit on your ass all day.nlsme1 wrote:

Usually about about 1/4 of them are flavonoids, smells, taste and such...nlsme1 wrote:

I don't know to many people that eat healthy and excercise, take pride in themselves, and still choose to smoke. However, most of the smokers I do know have not had any REAL physical activity since they started smoking. I will agree it is a life choice. Make it. But don't "cry" your being singled out for anything, except to pay for the future drain you will become.
And the other 3000? Cadmium, lead-210 (radioactive heavy metal), polonium-210 (radioactive heavy metal), the list goes on and on.BLdw wrote:

Not necessarily. Some regulatory bodies are in place in order to force individuals and companies to remain honest. While I fully believe in caveat emptor, a wholly unregulated system can not be put in place unless fraud, corruption, and theft are stamped out. A decrease in regulation must be followed, or preempted, by an increase in the ability of our justice system to not only root out, but prosecute those who commit these sorts of crimes. There should be no distinction given to 'white collar crime' and no special treatment. Crime is crime.nlsme1 wrote:

However, I think many regulatory bodies, the FDA and FCC to name but two, have largely overstepped their boundaries and have trampled individual rights in a misguided belief that they are doing so for the 'common good'. So yes, I am taking back what I said earlier, the FDA should exist, but only in a limited scope that forces companies to be honest about what is in their product and what the stated benefits may be.
