Howdy.
I have been looking forward to this event for a while now.
Due to the difficulties in getting this event up and running I have contacted the GameArena/Telstra Admins over here in Australia and begun making preparations to host an event using Catbox's map mod.
They have agreed to provide a 64 player server (subject to checking out the final map mod) and I will provide a TS server myself. Battlerecorder will be enabled for making of movies. May be able to organise some prizes for the best competitors and videos of the event.
The night will probably take place sometime in late July as I have solid committments for the next couple of weeks and want to mod out the map a bit more and maybe work with Catbox (and anyone else interested in modding up a map) to create a couple of other gameplay variations.
Some additional ideas at the moment are : 1) use the current mod for a 'chase the chicken' mode,
2) create an open-area style map for a 'tank wars' mod....16 tanks per team only, 5 flags points eqidistant across a very open-style map with terrain and obstacles specifically designed to provide cover and avenues of attack for tanks,
3) a large 'battleracer' style lap event probably using mustangs only....60 vehicles, 4 scout heli's for cameramen,
4) any other ideas submitted will be considered.
Don't mean to intrude on your thread Trotskygrad, still keen to take part in the 'Jalulzabad Car Chase'
I figured I would put a notice up on this thread as most of you have already declared your interest in participating in this sort of event.
Most of you should be able to play on my Australian server with no problems.
When Trotskygrad gets his event going we may be able to institute an Aussies vs the rest of the world challenge in a number of different community events over the upcoming months.
I will also put up a post on the BFEditor forums requesting additional help to mod out some maps for the different gameplay variations.
Don't post up any ideas on this thread, this one is for Trotskygrad's event. I will put up a new thread in a couple of weeks with some more concrete details and request some input for the maps. Get your thinking caps on and start putting maps together now if you're keen. We'll need the mods by Mid-July at the latest to enable testing.
Just to confirm, a BF2 64 player server is confirmed, a TS server is confirmed, need more maps.
More in a couple of weeks.....
Kaptyn.
