Iceland Passes Proposal to Become 'New Media Haven'

what i don't get is why Iceland would want to become this 'haven'. if it's online, confidential and bound to raise a shitstorm elsewhere, what's in it for them?

[and screw you JG, i live 12 hours away from a beach by car - another reason Iceland's better than Utah? oh wait, it's Iceland, their beaches are all ice . . . ]

Looking at the Wikipedia entry for Iceland, I'm beginning to like it more and more.

Perfect climate, for an Alaskan that absolutely hates hot weather: Yearly temperature averages from 26°F to 56°F

Thought, don't worry, I'll probably stick to living in Alaska and Montana.

Really? Here I don't particularly mind 40C (so long as I don't actually have to do anything)

I hate upper 90's and the 100's (F), particularly when I have to be working outside. Next to hot equipment...and hot material (add another several degrees to that). I hate having to be constantly glugging water to stay alive.

But yeah, er, iceland...what were we talking about?
