straight out of camera? nice.
Not sure exactly what you want help with, but go for whatever produces the least noise but still stops action fairly well. I would say ISO 800 1/350th should work pretty wellCammRobb wrote:
Need some help with shutter speeds and f stops, been photoing events at work, but I'm still trying to get the best photos. This is a selection of shutter speeds and f stops, wondering if you can help.
(maybe I went a bit overboard on the blue but try playing with the curves )
Kite boarding (I think that's what it's called) looks like a lot of fun

noobs.
This little guy was in the front lawn. Me and my friends commenced Operation Blitzkrieg, in which we grabbed a cottage cheese container, ambushed the little guy, transported him to a forest, and set him free. We didn't want him to get killed by a lawnmower. We didn't touch him, so hopefully the mother finds him.
and it works. can i license it?
Oh baby! You know it
This photo was taken at 5:30 in the morning on the Bolivian altiplano at around 4500 meters. I suggested my mate take a leak into the sunset 'cause no-one would look over there. Took the photo as a joke but it actually turned out to be a pretty good photo.
Here's another early morning pic from my altiplano excursion. We got to this place on our second night out in the desert and outside the front door there were these beer bottles arranged lik this. Upon arrival I had no idea why the Hell they were like this but we got up to continue our journey early in the morning and with the sun shining through them all like this it was pretty damn cool.
This photo was taken the night we arrived at the aforementioned place. Tim, Rob, Jason and I went for a walk and these two pups kept following us, playfighting as they went. I was lucky enough to snap this photo. Cute eh?
I think I'm going to set up a thread for all my South America trip photos 'cause I've got some good ones.

Dull story behind this, I got up at 3am to try to catch the Perseids meteor shower but there was a lot of cloud so waited, then fog descended...
This is a several minute exposure of the moon through the fog - total luck anything came out (IIRC was ~3 stops over the Nikon FE auto exposure.)
Here is one which did work, Comet Hale-Bopp.
50mm lens f1.8, ~30 secs ISO 1000.
Both need some cleaning up...

single exposure, i was going thru Las Vegas pics for the other thread. it's the new, big hotel just opened this year, the Aria.
nice capture! the only rabbits around here are Jack, or domestic.

I found with a 50mm lens 30 secs is just about OK, 1 minute gives star drag.Wallpaper wrote:
Dilbert did you use a star tracking thing? 30 seconds usually gives some star blur. Pretty good shot aside from the noise too
I did have an astronomical telescope with an equatorial mount, I think I did try using it to fix on a star and align the camera that way for extended shots, I'm pretty sure I didn't use if for that pic though
