I wonder why hispanics on the east coast don't form revolution groups or cause all of these type of problems the west coast is suffering from.

because they're in like Flynn.
Maybe it's a Mexico thing. Most of the hispanics up here are of Guatemalan, Peruvian, Dominican, or Puerto Rican descent.Macbeth wrote:

Well, the interesting thing is that there are more militant black groups on the West Coast as well.JohnG@lt wrote:

This is going to sound strange coming from me, but I honestly think that whites on the West Coast are often liberal to the point that it allows some minorities to fall prey to ideology that pushes the victim angle.
If the white majority of an area fixates on white guilt and patronizing minorities, then the outcome often results in minorities feeling that the best route to empowerment is to become radical.
Granted, the other side of the coin is that I think whites on the East Coast (even in the South) tend to be more upfront about things. Where I live, most attitudes and prejudices are out in the open. White people that don't have a problem with minorities are openly friendly to them, and white people that are prejudiced don't tend to be that subtle about it.
From what I've read and heard from people on the West Coast, it's like white people will say they're open-minded about racial diversity, but then turn around and avoid living in minority neighborhoods or sending their kids to predominantly minority schools.
When white people are more open and consistent about things, I think that gives minorities a better idea of who to trust and who not to. Whereas in places like L.A., you have liberal leaders in their local governments but still have racists in their police forces. It's a mixed message that leads to frustration and creating an environment perfect for encouraging radicalism.
Nice Turq.
Also, some hispanics in the West have been brain washed with the Aztlan la raza stuff.

In my experiance, it makes no differance what party you belong to. People hire illegals. A liberal basher on this forum has stated his "best" illegal made $60k in a year. Then he blames another group of people. Go figure.
This is true. As long as people hire them, they will come. In that respect, we can only blame ourselves.nlsme1 wrote:

On the other hand, this doesn't mean we should just open the border completely.
The most practical course of action would be to prosecute employers of illegals, deport the illegals, and fine/sanction the countries of origin per illegal apprehended.
In the short run, it would lead to a lot of conflicts, but in the long run, it would solve this problem (along with actual border patrols empowered to defend themselves).

I have changed my business model, sometime ago actually.
Relocated even to get away from it.
Good for you.
The problem is still there, and was created then.

More often than not it's a poverty line that separates people, the race line just happens to fall on the same spot. My part of Oregon doesn't have much in the way of minorities but we've still got ghettos full of crime, drugs, and all the stuff "associated" with minorities. People from certain towns or certain parts of towns are looked down upon and they aren't usually a racial minority.Turquoise wrote:

Very true. Class still separates people when there is no difference in race.Reciprocity wrote:

I would agree that class may actually play more of a divisive role than race in much of America (and the rest of the world), and part of this is why I believe affirmative action should be amended to reflect class rather than race.
Also, I have to admit that these barriers still exist prevalently on the East Coast as well. It just seems like we deal with it a little more honestly. Granted, I may just be biased on this.
