I'm thinking the best unlock would be a desert eagle 50 cal. Unlock the handgun and it goes into every class.
With all the chatter about which unlock is best, I've come to the conclusion that none of them are really much better than the other weapons within a kit. You get something you lose something etc, just b/c you have the unlock doesn't mean you get ownage.
In some circumstances the standard gun may actually be better than the unlock. The unlock may take for ever to reload etc.
Take the PMK vs standard support weapons.
rate of fire x damage = damage per second
pmk - 45 x 600 = 27000 (should take 3 shots for a kill) 3/600 = 0.3 sec
saw or 95 25 x 900 = 22500 (should take 4 shots for a kill) = 0.26 sec
It's just interesting, EA seems to have balanced the unlocks pretty well. And why are the called unlocks as opposed to upgrades????
So what I'm thinking is wouldn't it be cool to have additional unlocks along these lines.
So if you look at the pistol.
92FS / MR-444 / QSZ-92
Magazine Capacity: 15
Magazines Carried: 7
Damage: 20 per shot
Rate of Fire: -
Accuracy: Medium/High
Min Deviation: 0.5
Deviation Standing/Crouching/Prone: -/-/-
Deviation Added per Shot: 0.125(3.5)
Deviation Mod when Zoomed: 0.5
Recoil: 0.5-0.8
Recoil Mod when Zoomed: 0.25
Perhaps a Desert Eagle Pistol would be a cool unlock
Desert Eagle 50 cal
Magazine Capacity: 8
Magazines Carried: 3
Damage: 45 per shot
Rate of Fire: -
Accuracy: Medium/High
Min Deviation: 0.5
Deviation Standing/Crouching/Prone: -/-/-
Deviation Added per Shot: 0.4
Deviation Mod when Zoomed: 0.5
Recoil: 3-4
Recoil Mod when Zoomed: 1
So basically you get one heavy hit, take a little longer to reload or recover from the recoil. Limited ammo capacity like it is, perhaps you could shoot through glass with it or disable jeeps. This weapon was designed to be used used by the engineers in the field to disable enemy vehicles. It's suppose to crack a cylinder block, it was one of it's selling points for the army.
The following would really be considered Upgrades and not unlocks but still cool ideas.
How about a unguided missle that does more damage for AT
Perhaps a trip wire claymore for special ops
A wrench that destroys enemy assets for an engineer
Here is a new one Snipers that can call in artillery that corrects itself while firing.
Short range mobile artty for support
A light weight body armour for assult
