Their next option (after top kill) doesn't even make any sense. They're going to cut the pipe and remove the broken valve/restrictions that's at least half-working or something right now. Basically they're opening up the flow a hell of a lot more and then putting a cap on that or something. How do they expect this to work when they can't even deal with the pressure coming up as it is, let along it being so much more when they remove alot of the broken restrictions.

I know these guys are the experts but obviously this is the worst solution they never wanted to try otherwise it would have been the first, not last 'short-term' solution.

In an attempt to appease the politicians/media they're going to make this flow much worse by trying this new cap for the sake of looking like they're doing something whilst they dig the relief wells, which are a few months away still. I dunno, surely they would be better off just saying "we'll leave it as it is, there's nothing we can do except dig relief wells" - but I doubt the media/politicians would let them.

It's like someone is pointing a gun at their head demanding they commit suicide, lol

They probably will start talking about nukes if the relief wells don't work, and I've been hearing stories about an even bigger leak that they don't want anyone to know about and this leak that's all over the internet with video streams and shit isn't the main course but I dunno about that.

From my limited understanding of their options at this point, it sounds like relief wells are pretty much the only way this is going to get sorted. I didn't realise they took so long to dig though, I thought it was a matter of days.
