Hey guys,
when i want to view some movies that people post on here, it takes me to the site and says i need to get the newest version of flash player or enable java script.
So, i go to flash player website and it says that it finished installing. I don't even get any pop-up boxes or notifications of any sort.
So, me thinking that its all done and it says installed i go to the website where to movie was at, and im still getting the same message again. It's done this for other movies on that website. But my friend says that he can view them perfectly fine.

Any ideas of whats wrong here?

Thanks

Have you tried installing the Flash Player manually according to your web browser?

hmm... well from what I can see ...

Download Flash Player for Internet Explorer
Download for Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc.

They both link to the same installation file so either link will work just as fine as the other.  Download the program and run its install procedure.  Make sure you close your web browsers prior to doing that too.  Once done, you should be fine viewing Flash content w/o any annoying popup prompts inquiring to upgrade.

I went to the link and thats egactly where i get flash player from.
I clicked on install now and then it went to a different page and said it has been installed, and it still doesn't work. It also says that i might have java script turned off, is there a way to check and see if its on?

Im starting to get pissed off

Well... I forgot what the option's name is under Internet Explorer but I do know that in Firefox, it's under Preferences, Content section (as per v1.5).  JavaScript should be on by default on virtually all web browsers.

From the sound of what you're describing, you're probably using a version of Internet Explorer.  I rarely get this kind of stupid error and simply downloaded the installation file and force the update.

link to install file

Right-click on that, chose 'Save target as...' or 'Save link as...' or some derivative thereof and save it to somewhere (ie. Desktop, C:\, My Documents, anywhere that you can remember easily).  When it's done, go to that folder or double-click on it if it's sitting on the Desktop.  The series of steps ought to be self-explanatory and the install file should have auto-detected all web browsers installed.  When it's done installing, revisit the site that was giving you problems and check.  If it works, awesome.  If not, well... someone will have to take over on stepping you through on clearing out all temporary files in use by Internet Explorer (not in Windows at the moment... oops).

It lets me install it, but i get this message before it fully installs.

Setup could not find your browers plugin directory
You can install it to a different directory but the plugin may not work with your browser

Hmm... okay, now I really wonder... what web browser are you using?  Can you still click 'Next' even if it didn't find any?  I imagine that even if IE is the only one sitting there it ought to show up anyway.  I know ancient Firefox installs wouldn't be detected easily if it was installed via zip file (they only come in a self-installable file now).

I had the same problem from other site telling me I had to download the lastest version and when I tried to installed it, it was telling me it was already installed. Tired of getting that message, I uninstalled it and installed the lastest version and it solve the problem

First uninstall it then go to macromedia and install the lastest version... that's how I did it...

Still need to know what web browser you're using that is causing the error.  I'm guessing it's IE but I can be wrong.  Let us know first what the web browser is and we can start diagnosing from there.

My memory is a bit off so you might end up fumbling around a bit.  Go to Control Panel, double-click on Internet Options.  There should be a button where you can delete cookies and "Temporary Internet Files".  Click on the button on deleting Temporary Internet Files.  A dialog box will come up asking to confirm.  On that box, there should also be a checkbox to delete Downloaded Internet Files or something similar.  Have that box checked and hit 'OK'.

When it's done, hit "OK" on Internet Options.  If you still have that Flash Player install file sitting there, rerun it.  If not, go to Macromedia's site again and install again.  Hopefully the files will be installed properly this time.  After that's done, recheck the site you had problems with and let us know of the result.

I did that and it still doesn't work, im still not sure whats wrong.
If i still can't find the solution, then im just going to reinstall windows, get it over with, and start fresh.

sounds like an IE issue... I rarely use IE for anything... I would suggest an alternate browser but then the choice is up to you.  I made a quick test run on my sis' computer and it seem to install just fine.  The install file should have taken care of everything needed to get it running as well as their site.  If there's any way to get IE "fixed up" then that's probably the last course of action.

I'll look around and see what i can find, and if nothing turns up, then oh well, complete re-install of windows

Thanks for all your help
