Well, here you go: the USA has done many good things in the past and has the potential to do massive amounts of good in the future. I am all for the Military and NGOs to give humanitarian aid, but the military DOD contractors need to focus more on doing what they where made to do... Annihilating anyone who thinks they can tango with us. That is alot of what they do, they say if you hurt those people we will kill you and we wont lose sleep over it. And so what if people hate us for our power projection, fuck'em. No matter what you do someone will always hate you. Didn't you learn in school that you can't be friends with the entire class. I would rather keep up a strong military than suck other countries dicks all day so they behave.

You seem to be under the impression that European nations don't have big defence budgets too. The UK, France, Germany and Italy all have quite significant defence budgets. The UK and France spend nearly as much as China (each - combined they spend far more) both spend a huge amount more than Russia (getting on towards double), with Germany and Italy each spending similar amounts to Russia on defence.lowing wrote:

I think this level of sustained defence expenditure in Europe is unjustifiable. In the US it's simply ridiculous.

Perhaps a more appropriate way of looking at it is to think about what happened last time there was a big European arms race.
