What if the smoke monster doesn't have a name because it ISNT a person!?

What if the smoke monster is all those souls that have been lost in one mindset? THE SMOKE MONSTER WANTED TO ESCAPE, WHICH WOULD HAVE FOR SOME REASON ENDED ALL EXISTANCE. ALL THE EVIL/DAMNED SOULS WOULD BE UNLEASHED UPON THE EARTH.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

In Mark 5:9 Legion is a Demon that Christ exorcised. The demon said: "My name is Legion; for we are many." This is a reference to the Roman Legions, as there were many soldiers in them. The Demon represents the fact that we all have many problems within us, and that Christ can help us solve them (alternatively it only means that Demons live in people that are super strong and crazy and that Christ alone can remove them)
I FIGURED IT OUT! I FIGURED IT OUT!
I kinda figured that. He represents the bad, and the bad souls... and essentially is them. As is Jacob the good souls.

I actually kinda hope that on the boxset they have an alternate ending where the MiB DOES escape... and we get to see the souls wreak havoc across the earth.
i kind of thought that too.  i didn't think that the monster was one person, i just wanted it to have a damn name.  from now on i'm calling it legion.

A lot of things don't make sense since they were making it up as they went along. The producer admitted there wasn't any sort of grand plot.

Their names really linked into their personalities in the first few seasons.
ya, especially Jack's last name. Shepherd... comes across as pretty obvious.
Hey think about this

Jack got his DADs last name...

His dad was kind of the one leading all of the souls in the end wasnt he? He gathered all the people in one place, then moved them on. Like a shepard.

"Dr. Shepard?
Please, call me jack, Dr. Shepard is my father."

Your taking it out of context. There wasn't obviously was never a grand plot like, "Everyone is trying to stay alive and eventually kill the bad guy"

We watched things happen, some things had to do with the conclusion, some things didn't. Just like life.

They had an IDEA of where they were going with it, but shit changes, ideas get better, some ideas get cut.

They didn't make it up season by season that would be impossible to make everything connect and make sense.

sorry im just of the opinion that when writers write something, it should have a purpose and significance

you know, it kinda comes with reading a lot of good writers. helps you to discern when there's a bad writer, too.

doesn't surprise me about lost. 'easter eggs'. bored in the drafting room? it's bullshit to keep fanboys rabidly chasing referential meanings that don't actually exist.

Because John Locke wasn't the person who believed they were all there for a purpose (faith & philosiphy)

And Jack's dad, Dr. shepardnever herded everybody's souls into the afterlife.

so you're saying the tenuous connection to locke is that the series deals with FAITH and PHILOSOPHY?

shit i'll be fucked if that keeps pseudo-intellectuals entertained. liberalism? social contract theory? english empiricism? tabula rasa? consciousness?

where are even the weakest-links between the character and philosopher? i havent watched it at all but i was really hoping that in six painfully long seasons they would at least be able to throw out a scant bit of supporting evidence and filler material. come on, sheesh.

Congrats dude you lost me with big words.

They gave the characters names because it's better than naming them Bob JoJohnson. It doesn't have to allude to very much. The guy is all about faith so they name him John Locke big whoop.

The story isn't about the names, it's about the characters.

Why are you in a conclusion discussion thread that references past seasons if you haven't "seen it at all" ???

I guess that's all there is to do at BF2s these days, go shit in peoples threads and tell them posting the thread was a waste of time. But hey if using big words to talk shit about a show you've never seen before keeps you going then by all means keep going.

Kind of why I stopped coming to BF2s, not a whole lot here but people getting threads locked.

I came back to discuss the story of Lost with other people that have been watching the show. So gtfo

I still find the ending to be bullshit.

Meanwhile I'll be waiting for a Chuck 4th season as the season finale was fucking awesome.

missing the fact that locke was not a scholastic philosopher . . .

Yes, but they didn't need EVERYONE to die in the show just spare some of the main characters.

nobody is immortal.

Everybody dies.

Even Jacob died, and he could do some pretty amazing stuff.

In the end Richard started aging/dying also.

Everybody dies, and nobody does it alone.

Maybe if Donnie Darko watched LOST we would have a different ending in Donnie Darko.

Does anyone here fully understand Donnie Darko? Don't watch that shit on mushrooms btw it's a CRAZY journey.

Yes but my point is they didn't need to end it that way, it's pretty fucking obvious everyone dies

If we never saw them together going onto the next step in their lives we would have never understood the connection they shared.

Again dude. They were alone when they were alive. But towards the end they came together and in death they are also together. Most of them died towards the end, there wouldn't be many people still alive.

The whole point  of the show was people who have nothing, coming together and having something. The viewer just wouldn't get the whole idea if they didn't have the alternate world.

I know your not happy with it but that's how it is. What is there to get?

Edit: Remember jack seeing the plane fly away? That's a bunch of main characters getting off the island to live their lives.

Ever see the Six Feet Under finale?  That was a good one.  EVERYONE DIES.  Death is as much a part of life as birth.  I may have even cried a bit.  nah,  I probably had something in my eye.

Would be nice to see what happened to them, what happened in their lives when they returned home finally. Overall they could of came of with a better fucking ending. Ah well lost is a piece a shit series anyway.
