[Stalker: Call of Pripyat] Why is this game so unstable?

It does all sorts of stupid shit: freezes while loading, crashes a lot, suddenly stops me from moving, doesn't start up the first, second or sometimes third or even fourth time I click the icon, crashes literally like every 30 seconds if DX10 mode is enabled and all sorts of other stuff

What the fuck were they thinking when they released the game this unstable?

Never crashed for me even once, even when I was playing the original russian release without patches
Nobody I know who has played it experiences crashes or bugs

I'm not the only person having problems with it:

I load at least somewhat timely, it's about 20-30 seconds but if it's the first time I've played it in a few hours, it usually freezes

Out of the 3 games in the series I taught this was by far the most stable, I only had one problem near the end. Drove me mental lol!

Nope, just as unstable, crashed 2 seconds after loading on the first try. And now it's to the point where I can't go back because every time the emission finishes, the game is so choppy that it stops for 10 seconds and then allows 1 second of movement and then keep repeating and I can't stop it. It was a good game while it fucking worked, I hope they decide to fix whatever problem keeps happening with the Steam version someday.

Edit: nvm, I tricked the laggy shit. I saved right after it became laggy and then reloaded it and now everything works just as great and unstable as it did before, but now with no emission lag!

Is it possible to run it without steam?

Also rename your user.ltx file in users\public\public documents\STALKER CoP\ to reset every setting in the game. Could always help.

I might try that, and I don't think it is possible to run it without Steam the way Steam does it

Wow, that seems to have done it. I played on DX10 mode for about 15 minutes, no crashing, no choppiness. I even switched zones without crashing, SWITCHED ZONES, even people that haven't crashed the whole game have had that crash them at least once and I just did it on DX10 mode, lol. Thank ye

I saved the original one, I wonder what went so shitty in it to make the game SOOOOO unstable.
