I think the real argument is what's the need for it. Israel is more or less a first world nation (thanks to US funds in previous decades) it doesn't really need this. I read that everything is Israeli in-house, the only thing American is the money for this project. So this isn't even benefiting American workers or anything. It's like the worst kind of Aid from an American perspective. I don't understand it when Americans complain about healthcare for Americans but will then jump through rings to defend billions of dollars in aid to Israel and such.

For most americans it was because of 9/11. Before that most of us didn't care what happened over there or with our federal aid. But why most americans care about Israel os much is because those Jews are more or less just like us in terms of culture and the people who want to wipe the USA out also want to wipe out the Jews so most people figure we are in this one together agaisnt the sand people.

A lot of the people in the Tea Party hate the insane support given to Israel. Views are about as diversified as the failure of the Libertarian party.

We give them money(we cooperate on their NBMD system). Therefore, the US Military gains the knowlage needed to do the same to our country. Doesn't have to deal with any development costs with Congress, and its much easier to push through a bill in Congress funding it when there is a prime example of a successful system elsewhere in the world.
