ok, I am after a new car. I'm 21, past for 17 months on a clean licence. Now I have been a second driver on my car, a honda civic 1.6 esi auto. My mum was first so it was cheaper to insure. But I now need a new car as the engine is starting to make funny noises and I fancy a change.

I want a convertible so me and my mates can have a good cruise in or out of town. My budget is £1500 max. The car must be decent looking and cheap to insure. Age is not a concern as long as it looks the part. Don't want no rover 216 lol.

What sort of car fits into the bill?

BTW ideally 5 seater but 4 would be ok

ask yourself if you really want a convertible. we have one, and the roof only comes down for a couple of weeks a year. and thats a metal folder - if you get a fabric someone will slash it. it's tradition, like spitting in ferraris. also when you have the roof up, road noise+wind buffet is terrible on older cloth-tops.

Seriously, i wouldn't.

Only get a convertible if you're going to have the roof down most of the time, not just when it's warm and the sun is out. Otherwise there's no point in England... only think that should stop you having it down is the rain.

I agree with Ted converts are horrible for your main car even if you live in a sunny climate. driving with the top down at speed gets to be annoying after while and driving with the top up sucks

I don't get why euros are jealous about someone elses property ....... watching topgear and they had simon cowell on there and he was talking about his audi something and someone cut him, gave him the wanker gesture and tossed some drink out the window across the hood of his car ( even though it could be bc of him ) but theres been numerours other stories and vids about ppl doing and fucking shit up

I've had convertibles, and soon to have one again, and I can tell you that they are very fun to drive....but then again I've only ever driven them on coastal roads in the caribbean, I would probably advise against it in England....especially Derby.
