Some would, some wouldn't...  There are a lot of factors involved.

Right the factors, that they would be US citizens. Then they probably would work, take a look at they're paychecks say "fuck this" and go back?

They'll look at how much they have to pay in taxes and denounce their American citizenship lol.

It depends.  I think a lot of it has to do with what they value.  Some would love the opportunity to vote.  Some really do want to be part of our system.  Those are the illegals I can sympathize more with.

Others just came here for the work, and that's the full extent of their interest.  For them, citizenship might be a handicap, since new illegals would have the ability to undercut them in wages without having to deal with things like payroll tax.

Dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but apparently Los Angeles is boycotting Arizona's new law. How does that work exactly?

Just one more reason I stay out of California.

Maybe next we can do something about all the people who come here from California and complain or go on about how great California is

Arizona will suffer for this. It already is. Commerce will suffer and then they'll repeal the law. The truth is, I bet, that the majority of Americans are on the immigrants side. Arizona will end up looking like they did when they were finally forced to recognize a MLK holiday.
edit: Actually looks like the majority do approve of the bill. But still the ones that don't will over power those that do.

Yeah, the majority are behind it because they don't watch MSNBC and it's raving lunatics. I'm really failing to understand the hysteria that has built up around this bill. All it's doing is enforcing Federal laws that are already on the books and granting more people the power to enforce them instead of being entirely dependent on ICE. The laws already existed so wtf is all the hubbub about?

Sadly, it is true that it would seem that the illegals and their enablers will overpower the rule of law.

I agree, but man, there are millions of American citizens and legal immigrants that fit the profiling used to enforce this bill. I do not see any way around that. and the visons of a police state checking papers of people on the streets is not an attractive one.
Read the bill.  It's only 16 pages.  It specifically prohibits racial profiling, and it is already federal law that they can check your papers.

Yes, rly!

By stopping them for a legal reason, then requesting their identification (ID or any other info used to identify you, like name, date of birth and social security number). Just like they always do. When you can't produce anything they can verify you are most likely wanted or illegal. They'll then go the federal route for verification.

What happens now is an illegal is stopped for a traffic violation, the feds are called, the feds don't show up, the local police release the illegal. Is that the way you think it should be?
