In the UK you need none of them, in Aus only the first - work and school ID are not legal requirements anywhere I'm aware of.
SO you do not need ID in Aussieland, except while driving? I am gunna roll the dice here and say you are wrong.
I live here, and I'm telling you you're wrong. I don't need ID except for driving, and carrying firearms.

Driving:
'Drivers are required by law to carry their licence at all times when in charge of a motor vehicle. Failure to carry their licence, or not having a licence that is currently valid, may result in the issue of a traffic infringement notice.'
Big deal, its not a crime.

you have to turn up at a police station with your driving license within 5 days or something, or you get an arrest warrant put on you. Something like that.

ok, no ID required in Australia ever, except when driving....gunna take your word for it. Though I still doubt it.

Here in the states, ( not just AZ) we are required to be able to identify ourselves at all times, and before yuo say it, yes, gasp!! even us white people.

Why are all of you failing to address the fact that AZ is only enforcing existing federal law?

If you provide a name they can't verify with an address they will arrest you.

You gotta remember the car your driving has to be insured and registered to an address.

right so basically the same as here.  i forgot a license once and they had to verify everything in the computer.  same law still applies in arizona now as it did in ohio in 1994 when that happened to me.

yer drifting...It has been argued that in Australia, or anywhere really, except AZ or the US, not only do you not need ID, cops are not allowed to ask you to produce ID if they suspect you are doing something illegal. like I dunno, illegally immigrating to Australia. You wanna back that up or not?

The argument has been, "you have no clue", and "bullocks", compelling arguments no doubt, but the intent is there I guess.

I'd point out that it's, well, not very easy to illegally immigrate here, so no one really cares. We aren't paranoid about it.

If you happen to know Vilhams full name, address and date of birth and you're driving a car registered to that name and address and the Police officer believes you're fine.

If not you're fucked. He will be checking on his database, and I think the american accent would be a bit of a give-away.

right its the same here......its like paperless papers tbh.  although its more work for the cop so you most likely will not be getting out of the ticket.

The point is we don't need to carry papers, even the rare time we're supposed to its a trivial issue if we don't.
Giving a false name is a more serious offence than not carrying ID, so people tend not to do it.

For the Police its a few seconds effort on his radio thingy 'ID check Dilbert_X DOB XX-XX-XXXX, OK thanks, on your way sir'.
Which they would most likely do anyway if you show ID given how easy it is to forge an ID so why bother with ID at all.

You're saying you know more about the two countries I've recently lived in than I do - having never even visited them.

I know that except for a few situations I don't need to carry ID and the Police can't arrest me for not having ID.

YOU prove ME wrong.
