Okay, think what you will about us. ( the punchline is the youtube video at the end )
When I attended the John and Ken tax rally last year there were no police directing traffic. No police at all in fact. No litter. No fighting and no counter protesters. I saw with my own eyes whites, blacks, hispanics, asians and people of apparent middle Eastern decent gathered together to vent rage and frustration at a imploding economy and.
I remain mystified at the press coverage. I now quote CNN's Fredricka Whitfield;
The road to the rally almost two hours after it officially began;
Okay. I had to look rather hard through the main stream press photos to find it, but I have proof not from my own camera;
look carefully, just left of center. gasp!!!
Now, the obama admin got the message. And they want to be sure that the proper authorities are broadcasting the image the president wants. I give you, the Quincy Illinois Swat team, pre-positioned in case any of the senior citizens get to agitated or start throwing water bottles.
come on man anytime you or asnyone else starts bandying about stupid terms like communist or socialist you just lose your credibility, since it's so fuckin far from being communist or socialist it ain't even funny.
It's a message; we have the water cannons, mace and armored vehicles: don't even think about it.
don't forget the fema concentration camps and the tupperware coffins.
Okay, you are usually reasonable;
Why would they make a show of marching those swat officers down the middle of the street like that?
Why was there no police presence at the ones I went to that had tens of thousands of people? Did the memo not get to obama yet that there were dissenters?

well, we speak of "jumping to foregone conclusions" and then...

However, still complete bullshit. Historical behavior of tea party gatherings doesn't warrant that type of response, nor the type of smearing they're getting in the media.

Agreed. Also, great thread ATG.
I'm fairly certain Andrew Breitbart has been threatened by Tea Party crashers that were tossing eggs at the buses (that's against the law) and he even offered a hefty reward for proof that the Tea Party is a racist group -which is still unclaimed.
The left has even gone as far as to infiltrate the group by showing up at rallies with objectionably worded signs and acting nutso in an effort to tarnish and discredit the movement. Hell, even the GEICO lizard went on a tirade on them (lost his job for it though -derr).
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
Now I know how you all hate comparisons to other countries, but I don't live in the US...
Here in Germany it's perfectly normal that you see police at every major gathering of people, be it a festival, a demonstration or whatever. Such events have to be authorized by the government. Also, there's not only "normal" police, but also the guys with bulletproof wests, shields and all that stuff, like in the vid.
I don't have any problems with that. Peaceful, resonable people will be left alone, no matter what opinion they have (left, right, blabla...). The idiots who use these events to vandalize and do shit are caught and brought away.
I don't see it as a restriction for the protesters, but also a form of security the government provides against anti-protesters. Here we sometimes have demonstrations of neo-nazis. if they weren't guarded by police, there would be a lot of them hurt or even killed (not that I'd have anything against that...).

Dems assume tea partying is only one step removed from:
"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don't you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough." -Frederick Bastiat
The US govt, and others, have sent riot police to stoke trouble at peaceful protests for years.
Its hardly news.
Cops will always be there just in case shit happens... When the cops start breaking off a protest for arbitrary reasons, then it's a violation of the constitution (same shit happened in UK a while back... protesting iraq war or some shit i forgot).

The SWAT team is for that black guy you've got in that photo. Once they heard non-whites were attending they realised it could get ugly, and that some police brutality was needed.

Waco led to the OCB. There is always cause and effect.
And fucking children, stockpiling illegal weapons and shooting at cops lead to Waco.
Well thank god they killed those children then, way to go cops.
Actually it is very normal ,you might just not have noticed it at the last event, to have swat and other police officers at any demonstration. But it's funny how we really don't hear about the riots that are going on more and more frequently in this country. There have been a bunch this year I think..
So the local police chief sent in SWAT officers and that is somehow against Obama and the Democrats? I mean... come on... that's a bit of a stretch isn't? I wouldn't be surprised to see a new bout of domestic terrorism spilling out of the Tea Party Movement. Anyone remember Oklahoma City?

Also (correct me if I'm wrong) but isn't doing this the responsible thing to do whenever an ex-vice presidential candidate who will almost certainly run for president again in 2 years? Especially at an event of this magnitude..... Anyone ever read about the Chicago riots in 1968 at the DNC?
I mean, Secret service isn't protecting her, are they? So someone has to.
Threads like these do nothing to help tea partier's positions, despite the fact a lot of most are legit.

Well, I can see how that would have been confusing. My bad. The pictures of the large rally were from Searchlight Nevada. I posted it those pictures because CNN said there were " hundreds, at least dozens ".
The swat goons or riot police hut hutting through the street where from a tiny rally of 150-200. The point is, somebody is making a statement besides the " tea baggers ".

Texas CPS was investigating the claim and could find no evidence of that. I refer you to the words of one of the nine survivors;
David Thibodeau wrote:
The children of Mount Carmel were treasured, and they were a vital part of our small society. A disgruntled former resident, Marc Breault, was the original source of complaints about the treatment of children, and his wild allegations -- that we were planning to sacrifice one of our children on Yom Kippur one year -- were unfounded. Yes, occasionally kids were paddled for misbehaving, but the strict rule was they could never be paddled in anger. The parents usually did the paddling themselves. A few former residents also complained that David paddled their children, harshly, but I never saw that, and the Texas Child Protective Services workers who investigated the complaints concluded they were unfounded.

Here is PBS; " The ATF raided the Branch Davidian compound to serve arrest and search warrants as part of an investigation into illegal possession of firearms and explosives there. "
Now, I can see how at a casual glance one my get riled at the accusations, but actually there were no illegal weapons whatsoever that were ever found at the compound. Texas has liberal gun laws, meaning that with the proper paper work and all important tax you can legally own, manufacture and retail fully automatic weapons. Actually, I correct myself; there was evidence that U.S. Army soldiers or FBI agents placed a satchel on a bus that was buried, knowing that it contained all the women and children. That was illegal as they knew there were non-combatants in there. The children were dis-articulated by the bomb, there bodies shredded into small pieces and they had no chance of escape.
The search warrant was justified not on the basis that the Davidians had purchased anything illegal, but on the basis that they could be modifying legal arms to illegal arms.
The question of who fired first is in dispute. ATF agents who participated in the raid have testified in court and at a congressional hearing that the Branch Davidians fired the first shots. Right after the raid, however, one ATF agent told an investigator that a fellow agent may have shot first, when he killed a dog outside the compound. The agent later retracted the statement, saying that the Branch Davidians had initiated the gunfire. Surviving Branch Davidians have maintained that they did not shoot their guns until they were fired upon by federal authorities.
And, unrelated to your statements, the key evidence in the trial was the governments own FLIR tape. The tape showed, quite plainly the fires being started, and machine gun fire in the direction of those trying to escape the fire. In other words, you could see that they were shooting the people as they tried to flee the fire.
The FLIR was disallowed as evidence, even though it was the FBI's tape.
The physical evidence of the actual bodies was destroyed. They actually forgot to plug in the refrigerated truck and the bodies decomposed so much that they could no longer determine the cause of death. Incendiary devices were found in the burned remains that were linked to the federal agents and not the Davidians.
The ATF raided the compound on bogus charges, shot first, got fought back and big brother came in to kick some ass. He did, the evidence was buried along with the bodies and the officers got promotions. The survivors got life in prison.
That is why OCB had to happen.
And every time uninformed, ignorant people like you speak of it, the essentially spit on the dead. All of the dead of Oklahoma and of the Waco massacre are the direct faults of the law enforcement officers, the courts and the federal government. It was the crime(s) of the century. I pretty much will stand head to head with anybody who wants to debate this.
I defy you to watch this. This is the voices of the children who were at waco.
The sad, pathetic fact is that 99.5% of the public have no idea what happened, and don't care, even though children were murdered. I pretty much have contempt for them, mock their positions and will not break bread with fools.
