I'm not a Brit citizen but I took the survey anyway. Apparently I should vote for the Liberal Democrats.

That probably happens because the big two parties aren't handling economic and social issues the way that a large portion of Brits would prefer.eleven bravo wrote:

If the BNP didn't have a racist attitude, they'd probably get something around that among the electorate while still keeping all of their non-racist policies.
EDIT: I don't want to overstate their influence too much...

I will be voting Conservatives proudly. Time is well and truly up for the tossing Labour Party, 13 years of completely sledgehammering the economy and society into the mess its in today...Spiralling national debt, half a billion pounds is borrowed by Britain PER DAY....its ludicrous. COnservatives, regardless of how similar people may think they are to Labour, at least promise change, an opportunity, perhaps, to get out of this mess. Labour's message about sticking with this path until next year? Just not worth the risk in my eyes.
Lib Dems are obviously looking quite good in Britains eyes following the debate. If Cameron or Brown had the balls to tackle Clegg on his weak manifesto the whole Lib Dem ideal solution would have come crumbling down - if a hung parliament wasn't on the cards I'm sure we would have seen this. I'm sorry but I completely disagree with the Lib Dems policy to scrap our nuclear deterrent. Clegg claimed that the time of the Cold War is over and there is no need for nuclear weapons...how out of touch is this man? Currently Iran and North Korea - countries led by batshit insane men - are accelerating their nuclear research. A nuclear deterrent is vital if Britain wants to remain a big player in global politics. He also wants to give Britain the Euro, which frankly I am utterly against. As a matter of national heritage I think we should stick with the pound. (If Greece goes arse up anyway the Euro will become trash)
People accuse David Cameron of only caring about the rich and being a slimy tosser, but I feel they are too prejudiced against him for his upbringing. Hell, Nick Clegg went to a secondary school just as prestigious as Camerons, yet no one victimizes him for it.
I urge all UK forum users to thoroughly research each parties views and policies - and seeing if they conform with their beliefs - before making a decision, not just going by who "won" a debate.
TL;DR: Don't vote Labour. Make sure you research the policies of the party you are considering voting for.

Have you even read any of these manifestos? It doesn't sound like it.Sgt.Davi wrote:

The tories have been talking a big game, but it all seems like uncosted fantasy. The only policy they've been very clear on is immediately slashing loads of public sector jobs, which at this recovery stage following a recession would be madness.
I completely agree that there is no need for Britain to have nuclear weapons these days. The cost of replacing Trident is about the same as the cost of the NHS. I know which I'd rather have. Costs need to be cut. It's all about priorities - I'd rather keep a nuclear deterent, but not at the expense of more important things like schools and healthcare.
BTW - it's been two years since the Lib Dems had any policy of adopting the Euro and even then they only ever promised a referendum on whether to join the Euro or not - which from a purely economic perspective would make loads of sense (look at the performance of the Euro compared to the Pound - it used to be 60p to the Euro now it's about 90p to the Euro).
I accuse Cameron and Osborne of not having a clue what they're talking about when it comes to economic policy. They're living in a dreamland where you can magic up billions and billions in efficiency savings. Efficiency savings are always something you want to take with a pinch of salt and the fact the tories have left themselves overdependant on these savings working is cause for concern.Sgt.Davi wrote:

Two rather lolworthy points in Sgt.Davi's post:
1. That Britain having or not having a nuclear deterrent has the slightest impact on Iran and North Korea...
2. That crucial economic decisions such as currency should be based, on all things, on national heritage...

1. Britain does need to keep a modern and workable Nuclear deterrent, however not because of Iran and North Korea.Spark wrote:

Well yes, but the reasoning Sgt.Davi applied to both situations was rather amusing.jord wrote:

Why? Britain needs not to have a huge budget deficit. Britain needs a decent health service, decent schools and a good police force. Why does Britain need missiles that we have never used in the past and are never likely to use?jord wrote:

Why do the vast majority of people not want the Euro? It's because of national pride. It is a decision based on popular opinion, but that doesn't prevent the root cause from being national pride.jord wrote:

Concentrating all focus and resources around 1 war (Afghanistan) is the biggest defence mistake we could make. We need to think ahead to the next 30 years. I know we haven't had to use them in the past buts that's what it is, a deterrent. The amount of money looks massive on paper but it covers us for a longer period of time.Bertster7 wrote:

As for the Euro you're right, logically the Euro may be the right answer. We are humans afterall, and to a certain extent I'm glad the public still have a certain amount of passion for pride and heritage, I know mine's is drifting away.
I'd like to keep a nuclear deterent. But you've got to think what is more likely to be needed, £100 billion or the nuclear deterent?jord wrote:

Drastic cuts need to be made and I'd rather see them made to something we probably won't ever need than things we definitely will need.
I would prefer to keep the pound too. I don't want the Euro, just making the point that joining the Euro would probably be the rational thing to do.jord wrote:

I would think nuclear submarines and their missiles are the most expensive possible way of having a nuclear deterrent, that would be the first thing I'd cut.
I'd stay out of the Euro too, the EU has too much power already.

America really needs to do away with it's large military (including nuclear) budgets so Europeans get a dose of reality and have to actually think about defending themselves...

Does there have to be an immediate threat? When has Europe gone more than 70 years without a full scale war before in it's history? The only thing that has kept it peaceful is the Russia/America standoff.Dilbert_X wrote:

The Russia-America business did not prevent the Europeans fighting amongst themselves.

Instability in Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain. If we had no military, what would stop Russia from using it's military? Civil wars are also brewing in places like France with their large unemployed underclass and ghettos.Dilbert_X wrote:
