To you guys who carry guns around with you on a daily basis. Have you ever felt the need to bring it out or flash it under your coat in order to get your way, or in order to make a point during an argument? Or anything like that?

Can you honestly say that it makes no bearing on you and your impact on others and that it's purely for self-defence? It's hard to imagine most people being true to that. Most people in this world are far from angels. I can imagine getting into a heated argument with a nice law abiding citizen who happens to carry  a gun and after some arguing him showing me who's boss, small scenarios like that where the gun would be used as leverage by an average person. I honestly can't be arsed to deal with that shit, and I know it would happen all the time amongst certain scenarios. You push a human a little bit and they can quickly turn into a major asshole just so they get their way.

I bet people on here with guns will say they're all angels.

that is really illegal and the fastest way lose your permit.  It's called brandishing.  In fact, it's so illegal that if someone accidently sees your concealed weapon and they decide to call the cops you will most likely get in trouble/lose your permit.  Concealed means concealed.  The only time your gun is to be seen is when you're in imminent danger.

if you live the kind of life where you're constantly getting into heated arguements with random people, you most likely wouldn't qualify for a permit anyways because you're a fucking criminal.

people still seem to have this "wild west" image of the US.  The vast majority of gun violence comes from gang-bangers and other assorted poor people who can't legally carry anyways.

I've never seen it happen.  (I'm in a state where both Concealed and Open carry is legal.)
Most people I know who carry realize exactly what the laws are (and brandishing is a very quick way to lose a license/have charges pressed against you).  Most of the people I've talked to say they try very hard to avoid heated/potentially violent situations.  From what I know of them, they are sincere in that effort.
Of course, I know this doesn't apply to everyone.  I can only base this off of carriers whom I know.

Every time I read this thread title I get envious.

Granted these are issued CWP's from Florida, but those that are lawfully carrying aren't an issue.  Less than 1% actually.

** Actually, it'd be had to compare numbers for there will be a virtually unmeasurabe amount of carrying citizens out there.

So in your opinion The Power would twist you ? Do you feel the need to kick ass and throw karate moves on toddlers becuase you have such power over them ? I don't.

I can handle 90 percent of the men I meet without a gun. I mostly carried it in case I had an Accident trailering horses.

When I did carry I was on my best behavior because I didn't want the hassle and I didn't want to jeopardize my permit which took years to get.

I could let every insult slide because I was holding all the cards. I never have to use bravado or bluff.

It's been my experience that when you have it on you, you act calmer because you don't have to react off some crack heads decision.

you get to make the decision.

The only time I ever had to present my weapon. All I said was " I think you have the Wrong address ?

" His reply was " I want to go home. "  I didn't stop him.

The law went into effect today. In Arizona people 21 years and older can legally carry a concealed weapon without permit. Arizona is the 3rd state to allow citizens to carry concealed weapons without a permit. What state will be next?

I just wanted to reply to this,

Meth junkies will carry guns regardless of the law. Law abiding citizens won't. Now citizens are legally allowed to carry guns to protect themselves from those meth junkies. Criminals carry guns regardless of laws. Why should we be treated like criminals if we abide by laws if the criminals themselves don't?
