Letter of thanks to EA:
Thank you so much. When I purchased your game I quickly became engrossed in the team play, voice over IP, ranks and stats. I became maybe even a little obsessed about it. I was checking stats at work, at school, at night. I was comparing how I was progressing to ANYONE and EVERYONE I knew who was playing. This competition only drove me to play more, to try to be the best of those I know.
Recently you made a choice to block most web sites from accessing the stats outside of the game, by doing this it made it so I could only see my stats when I was at home and had time to play. I couldn't compare myself to friends anymore. This loss of the aspect of the game has allowed me to remember better things in life. I now spend evenings with my wife or doing homework, I focus at work, and I sleep 7 hours a night again.
------------------------------------------------------
OK, so I'm not really that bad (obvious by the time played), but I have played a LOT less since this website stopped updating. It just isn't as fun when I couldn't go show my stats to other co-workers who play.
------------------------------------------------------
I am wondering however what types of things people don't do because they're playing the game. For instance last weekend I completely forgot to study for a statistics midterm :-P
