So despite your awsm training, you didn't even notice the RPG watching it safe at home, while the gunner did.
I didn't see that watching it first, but you're right, the guy in the crosshairs at around 3:45-3:50 does have an RPG.

I'm still of the opinion that the airmen have done nothing wrong here, they've seen a group of armed men in an active warzone and followed their training exactly as they should have done.

But I forgot, you're not allowed to shoot the enemy aiming their guns at you from far away so these men must be court martialled and locked up

Indeed it wasn't an RPG, but it certainly looked like one, to me, to the trained gunner, to his commander watching the feed. But what would they know. Dilberts on the case.
Except it wasn't, all those people were wrong despite their awsm training - which is what 13 weeks these days?

ouch

Oh and 13 weeks of training is a lot. That's 91 days, a very long time.

The airmen flying the Apaches will have had a lot more than 13 weeks training, I assume they'd need to have served time before enlisting in flight school or something, and then serve with different aircraft. The army isn't going to put teenagers in Apaches. Their training will be measured in years not weeks.

From the vid, the guy crouching down by the wall could have been holding a later model RPG for all the pilots knew, something like the 22 or 26.

Yes there is, guy with the crosshairs over him, watch from 3:45, he turns and you can see the shape of it. It reaches up over his hip from the ground. That isn't a camera, and to me looks like an RPG, I've had time to analyse it too, the airmen have to make choices in real time, and in this case they made the right one.

I'll say this again, since no one picked up on it before, why wasn't the photog or the minivan marked 'PRESS'?

Because it was just belonging to ordinary people trying to help the wounded.

I can't imagine anyone being stupid enough to help someone who just got blown up by the Yanks in downtown Baghdad, but I'll entertain that thought, and once again ask why the photog wasn't marked?

Could have been a camera crew for Al-Qaeda shooting live footage of some raw RPG action.

That doesn't explain why the journalists weren't wearing ID or vests though.

Tbh, contractor's would have been better for their bodyguards, considering a contractor actually looks like a contractor with his body armour.

They made three mistakes that day, and paid for it.

Agreed, if anything the journalist fucked up more than the Army did.

Yeah, it is normal to be killed just because you didnt attach ID or vest, pilots have nothing to do with it. Did you honestly believe that triggerhappy predators would recognize anything? Beside the journalists, what about other victims?
