Three Massachusetts teenagers are expected to appear in court for the first time since being charged in the bullying of a 15-year-old girl who committed suicide after months of harassment.

Sean Mulveyhill and Kayla Narey, both 17, face charges of criminal harassment, disturbing a school assembly and violation of civil rights.

Mulveyhill and 18-year-old Austin Renaud of Springfield also face charges of statutory rape. All three are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Hampshire Superior Court.

I'm not one of those, 'kid was too weak for life LOL' types, but I do think something is wrong here if the other kids are going to be prosecuted for her suicide. To me, the local DA is just trying to score some political points by running down these kids lives. Now i do feel sorry for the girl, I really do, but I don't see the point or justification for destroying these kids lives over a little bullying.

Not to compare the two things completely, but when the older of the DC snipers was put on trial, his defense lawyers argued that he couldn't be put to death because he was not the 'trigger-man' in the killings. This is what the judge had to say:

"With calculation, extensive planning, premeditation and ruthless disregard for life, Muhammad carried out his cruel scheme of terror."

Does this seem much different:
"With calculation, extensive planning, premeditation and ruthless disregard for life, Mulveyhill and Narey carried out their cruel scheme of terror."

They systematically and continually bullied the girl. At the very least they could be charged with harassment.

I also think there should be (and thankfully there is) a serious investigation into the school. The teachers and administrators need to do more to stop these sorts of things.

edit: What's worse is these kids don't seem to have any remorse for what they did. Even the younger of the DC snipers apologized to a relative of one of his victims.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to side with Marlo on this one. I can see where Hurricane is coming from, but this really is apples to oranges.

Whatever the case, the statutory rape charges are bullshit. More Big Brother shit...

On a totally unrelated note, I still don't get how Pearl Jam could go from being so awesome with their first 3 albums to sucking so hard with everything after that.

This shit happened a town over from me. To be perfectly honest here, i think the girls should be disciplined, but not incarcerated. I went through almost as much bullshit through my school career and not once did i think of taking "the easy way out." I was ridiculed day after day, branded a faggot (which as it turns out i am not) an outcast, spit on, pushed into lockers the whole nine yards. Whenever i fought back i would get shit from the administration.

What I'm saying is this, it's terrible that she ended herself, don't get me wrong about that. However, if she couldn't hack it in school, how the hell would she make it out in the real world. Bullies don't stop. even when the hammer is brought down upon them by the higher ups. The only way they stop is when they realize their own folly, which go figure is after high school, and sometimes after college. There is no war against bullying, simply because you cannot combat it. No matter who is in charge, no matter what happens. there will always be ridicule.

thats what they kept telling me. Truth is, they can't do shit. Sure you can suspend them, or expel them, but they can still find you. They can stalk you on the internet, egg your house so on and so forth.

yeah, but then you will get stuck in a vicious cycle for a long time. I chose to just ignore it pretty much, eggs have stopped hitting my house and those jack-offs haven't really messaged me since. That's really all you need to do.
