Hey guys, hoping you can help me here.

I upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and installed and patched bf2 to 1.5 with no problems at all. It was actually one of the smoothest installs of bf2 I have ever had. :p

Anyways, now when I try to launch the game I double click the icon and the screen goes black as if it is starting, but then it just goes back to the desktop. I can't seem to get it started. Bf2:SF does the same thing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I've had the same problem with BF2 on XP. It just randomly started doing it on all BF2 even mods. Try a reinstall.

i just fully installed on win 7 premium with no issues.

When you put the first disk in, the auto reader wants to launch. Deny it.
Open computer and explore disk.
Right click setup in disk and go to properties.
go to compatability tab and click Win xp SP3
Run as administrator
apply and click ok.

Right click setup again and choose run as admin.

those are the steps i took with no issues untill it came to the key#, there is a thread in here, http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=132547
that will fix any key issues you may have. delete all the jibberish after x9392 and input your keycode WITH NO SPACES N E WHERE.

do do that you will have to go into your registry, lil intimadating but e z.
hit your start button, type in run at the bottom, when the lil window pops up type in REGEDIT and hit enter. then just follow the path on that link there and your done.

Try deleting the Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents.

I just did a reinstall and had the exact same issue.

The solution was to runt the 1.41 patch before the 1.50.

After that, no issues.

Just as a remark - Try turning "UAC" off as this seemed to solve all of my problems in W7 Ultimate.
