Haha exactly. While I'm in my 3rd year, I've really only done a transport/highway engineering course when it comes to more specialised engineering subjects. Other than that it's been fundamental maths and mechanics (lmao, I'd love to see those mech engineers have a go at fluid dymanics.. cause I sure as hell hated it ). Yeah the upper division stuff is awesome. I don't care how nerdy it sounds, it's great fun to spend a few months designing an earth dam like you would in the real world, with computer programs, hand calculations, technical reports, etc. Other cool stuff was designing a reservoir, doing a huge project on mountain hydrology (including going up into the mountains for a week ), analyzing traffic corridors and having actual city transportation engineers come in and listen to our suggestions for improvements. Really cool stuff.
