CMP?

Oh and yeah, real iron sights block your FOV so much. Especially them damn peep sights.
Used gun from a gun shop.  Oddly enough I can't seem to find a way to get into the CMP in my area, they're all high school JROTC's.

On a side note, I learned that just because someone has cleaned the cosmolin off the outside of the gun does not necessarily mean that they have cleaned it from the inside of the gun.  I figured that since I didn't see any on the outside it was safe to shoot as is, and I was wrong.  Worked great the first time, mostly cause the stuff simply was melting then.  The second time, the entire trigger group jammed up solid on the fifth shot, cause the cosmolin turned to tar after the first session.  Fortunately the shop I bought it from is fixing it, but it's still kind of embarrassing that I missed such an obvious step.
i almost did that with my svt

then i was like oooooooohhhhhhhhhh ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiittttttttt

You should always field strip a new purchase and inspect it before firing.

Yep.  And I know I should always field strip a gun after I but it, but I really wanted to shoot it and was feeling too lazy to take it apart.  Won't make the mistake again.

Holy crap.  I started this thread over 4 years ago and it is still going.  Well, I still have the Mini-30.  I picked up a Ruger GP-100 4" about 3 years ago.  Exactly 1 month ago I bought a Marlin 925r and slapped a cheapo bushnell rimfire scope on it.  Finally have my own .22 to shoot and not spend a fortune on ammo.

How much did you pay for it? I've seen 'em priced between $500 and $2000.

$1000.  It's a national match model in really good condition, except for that one little issue I had with it.

Fucking fun as hell to shoot. Weighs a ton though, but the women I take shooting really like it anyway since the weight (and .22 ammo) means theres zero kick

nice Ruger.  I've got a stainless target mk.III.  Have you tried taking it apart yet?  It can be an interesting experience.

Yeah, this one is very, very tight. I have to use a soft hammer to pop the hinge out. Not quite a 92fs, eh?

Taking my Ruger 22/45 apart is easy. It's getting it back together that bugs.

I see you removed the front sight post.

My experience is pretty much the opposite. The last part about getting the hinge back in and "springy" is a bit tricking sometimes, but otherwise is quite straight forward.

As for the front sight, that was done before I got the gun. And it wasn't included with it either, so if I ever want to go back to iron sights, I'll have to go get one

hmm. Maybe I shouldn't clean my guns while intoxicated, perhaps it would be easier.
most any ruger gun part can be found on ebay. I so tricked out my 10/22 with titanium internals and everything was ordered from ebay.

Ruger 22/45.  I've got one that looks kinda like this-
https://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff313/dlchan/DLCsRugerMKIII22_45SSBBwithFingerGr.jpg

Friggin' love the bully barrel on it.  Thing is kinda a pain to re-assemble.  Fucking lil dangling pin there in the mag well has to set just right.  It's a blast to shoot though.

I contacted Ruger directly and they shipped me a new front sight free of charge. It shipped from their factory in Arizona, not sure if they'd ship you one free of charge though.

I have a trigger just like yours, but haven't installed it yet. At first I didn't like the gold trigger on mine, but it's growing on me. The other trigger (like yours) is a better shooter though so I'll install it one of these days.

Here's my Ruger 22 pistol:

I'm looking foward to checking out this 22 pistol. 30 rounds of 22 mag!
CDNN has them for $299 ($15 shipping) in their catalog, but they don't expect them for another 30-days or so.
