Think about it like this, if you had some radical preacher on the corner of your street shouting hatred towards the USA and you walked up to him and shot him dead, would you be considered a war hero?

He was a follower of Radical Islam, he was preaching his hatred, surely all you were doing is defending your nation? The reality is they (police) would probably haul your arse away for murder whether they want to or not, the reality is different from what you perceive...

Until the day comes where you can identify, shoot and kill someone in your country for being a Radical Islamist and be declared a hero (or just get away with it) is the day I'll believe we're at war with radical Islam, you would barely be allowed to do that in Afghanistan and Iraq...let alone here, it would be a police matter.

Which is why I don't subscribe to the fact that we're at war, not yet, at least.

We were at war with Germany and Japan ( undisputed) but I am pretty sure you were not allowed to walk down your street and shoot a German or Japanese in cold blood.

There are rules of engagement, and even soldiers on the battlefield are subject to murder charges if they break them. Your point is not valid.

I guess I will let hte death toll decide for me if this is a war or not..........................................Yup it appears to be a war.
there is no specific war really because with this nidal guy they havent found any direct links to al qaeda, etc.
Doesn't have to be with Al Queda. He has direct links to radical Islam our enemy, with which we are at war.
uh show me where it says 'radical Islam' is our enemy?

It doesn't, hence the political correctness of it all. I offer current events as proof that we are however.

Again your choice to accept that reality is a totally different matter all together.

Ask Al Quaeda if they think they're at war with us.
That pretty much answers it as a "yes, we're at war".

And, androoz, the answer to an enemy that wishes to see you dead or subservient is not surrender or pleading for their mercy.
You and others like you frighten me much much more than any wild-eyed jihadi with an AK-47 ever could.

They are willing to lay down their life for what they believe in.
You are.. what?  unwilling to even mildly offend them in return?

I have more of a problem with stubborn people -- regardless of their age.

My thought - the guy is going to jail in the form of a psycho ward.  He'll be determined insane.
oaths to your god etc overrule those of the country you live in imo.
sounds like the fundamentalists in the Middle East...

P.S.  If someone pleads guilty in military court, it exempts them from the death penalty.

They still get the benefit of American courts and all the positive--and negative--that entails.
And that is the difference between a Western democracy and some backwater banana republic.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.
