Just checked then, the accompanying driver must be over 21 and have held their full license for a minimum of 3 years.

No, I mean a car. Well, technically they're classed as motorcycles and they only do 45 km/h. The image in my previous post is an example of one of those cars. They sound like a freaking lawn mower when they pass by. I can't find an article in English about the law, I'm sure you're not much good with an article in Dutch.

Your country's insane.

Don't you need a licence to drive a 'motorbike' anyway?

Best driver I know took 2 tries, first one she got failed because of a complete moron doing over 60 in a 30 zone almost slamming into her, hardly her fault but it gets recorded as a near accident... we have the dumbest examination system ever tbh so just hope you avoid the twats and you'll do fine

I have my learners licence right now, so I should be practicing with a 'teacher'. Parent/guardian/we.
Shitty thing is that they never have time so it's really hard for me to get 'better'

Kez I'm having my second driving lesson tomorrow man... Only I've been driving for erm 3 months now, 2 months without insurance. I'm still on a provisional licence so I'm not really ever insured. But fuck it, I'm a safe enough driver and I don't make *much* mistakes for a *beginner*.

The driving instructor was like on the first lesson...

"I think you're not telling me something..."

Also in Ireland you can't even apply for a full license till you have your learner permit (provisional) for 6 months, yet they expect you to pay the full insurance (~€1,200) for the year. My parents don't have time to sit in the car with me, why the fuck would they? It's a real 'mickey-mouse' law over here that you have to drive with a full licensed driver of 6 years while holding a learner permit, the police hardly ever enforce it.

And to get your learner permit you do a theory test that any twat with a little bit of common sense can pass... I got 34/35 I think, or maybe it was 39/40. Anyways I only got 1 wrong.

You've been going 3 months, you have no idea what kind of driver you are.

lol, serious.

Not to say your not bad... but just pointing the car around is the easy part.
Everyone in your position thinks there pretty good.

Keep in mind the driving instructor rides with ever idiot out there.... "good" may be relative, and they are also being kind/building your confidence.

As long as you appear comfortable behind the wheel, that's big points. Don't drive under the speed limit, don't drive too much over the speed limit, brake early, signal early, don't accelerate into a turn. Keep an eye on your rear-view mirror and side mirrors, but glue your gaze mostly on the road ahead of you. Turn your cell phone off and don't try to make small talk.

Go smooth and easy. If you can drive around on a road in good repair with a cup of coffee on your dashboard (if it isn't sloped) without spilling it, you're great.

Driving smoothly is a very small part of being a good driver. Planning and hazard perception are at least as important.

Don't drive under the speed limit?

He's had one lesson, has been driving illegally for two months and reckons he's an awsm driver.
This should end well.

oh, so you're the slow asshole who can't get out of his own way.  I work on cars all the time that have piles of shit on the dash, cups of coffee, you name it.  how many accidents have you caused with your "smooth and easy" driving?

OMG how awful you have to wait about a second!
Its impatient people who don't know how to drive who cause accidents.

for me, it's not about being impatient.  It's about the guy behind me on his cell phone.   It's about the soccer mom who doesn't like to stop at intersections.

None of which are related to a Pontiac driving slowly, they are both about inattention and impatience.

when you've been rear ended by an inattentive driver because you're stuck behind grandma doing 3mph in a 30,  you can tell me what's related.  Unless I should have swerved into oncoming traffic or up onto the sidewalk?

So you object to traffic lights turning red because the guy behind you might rear end you?

Its the fault of te guy who rear-ended you, not the grandma.

yes, because traffic lights are the same as some random person at some random spot, practically stopping in the middle of the road.  Everyone should be paying attention,  but at the same time, everyone should be moving safely and efficiently.

People are allowed to stop if they want to, if a kid runs out, make turns, pull over. You need to take account of that while driving.

actually, no.  They have to have a reason.  Not spilling your coffee isn't a reason.
