I don't have a problem with over crowded prisons, if they are uncomfortable, good. In fact, it should be worse. SO bad that people do not want to go to jail and might even consider remaining a law abiding citizen to avoid it.
But if you really wanna cry about the poor jail conditions and over crowding, then let us turn our focus to actually punishing criminal behavior instead of rehabilitiation. Capiltal crimes call for capital punishment. Rqpe murder, child molestation, armed robbery, home invasion, all should bring a death sentence. Hence more room in jail. ( and I do not mean a sentence that is carried out in 20 years.)
and before you start with the endless string of "what-ifs", I do recognize the fact that innocent men have been put down, but in todays DNA age beyond a reasonable doubt has been bumped up a few levels.
Also stop putting people in jail for self destruction crimes, drug offenses etc....If someone wants to destroy their lives with drugs, let them, and fuck them. Only one thing keeping drug dealers in business and that is drug users. Niether of them should affect me by making me paying for housing them.
