Cat problems

Hai guys this is the first time ive ever owned a cat i think theres a problem. i got it this morning and whenever i pet it it makes this weird noise its like a quiet fast ticking sound from inside its throat/nose. i knew i shoulda got a dog but wat do i do. should i take it back to the guy who sold it to me?

My cat does that to clear hair from her throat after she cleans herself. Nothing abnormal

EDIT- Maybe it just purrs weird? You said you were petting it, so might be that.
