A Saudi Arabian court handed down a 120-lash sentence to a man who was simultaneously married to six women -- two more than the legal limit.
The man, whose name was not released, told the Jizan province court he did not know he was violating Shariah, Islamic law, by having more than four wives at the same time, the BBC reported Friday.
The defendant, a member of the Saudi Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, a religious police force, was also ordered to read two chapters of the Koran and was banned from leading prayers.

Should we have a similar type of system... would beat paying for all those prisoners to stay in jail...... for example if you are caught selling or distributing drugs-- 1000 lashes in downtown... and so on... if you murder someone like 10k lashes... in downtown (where the prisoner is lashed with an electronic whip kind of like from those sci-fi movies.... and then after the lashing is done they'be free to leave and go do whatever they want....So yeah would u be for or against such a system...
