Pretty much the thing that requires the most force in assembling a PC is locking the CPU and the push-pins on the CPU cooler
I've only ever had to do that once and I hated it. Screw push pins

I run a BIOS mod. It is impossible to distinguish my computer from a Dell OEM can without physically looking at it.
I'm sure if they really cared enough they could.  Or at least make it so 99% of cracked copies wont work, theres always going to be a few people who know their way around it and put in the effort to crack it.
Considering that their latest and greatest security update can't even bust the most simple cheat there is, and that they've failed to fix the simple hosts file hack in Windows XP for the past nine years, I'm not feeling the heat.
I very much doubt that Microsoft have any desire to lock down illegitimate Windows installations for all but the least technically minded people around. It's not that Microsoft lack the competence to patch these holes; it's that they have zero incentive to do so.

I just pre-ordered one of these babies

i5 430
4Gb 1066Mhz DDR3
ATi 5650 1GB
15,6" 1366x768
Wireless b/g/n
Bluetooth
Win7 home premium (<- Pro = do want)
HDMI out + eSata port

And for the low price of 7000DKK (~(US)$1250... (Hardware is generally more expensive here than in the US mind you!)

https://sp.sony-europe.com/media/169/84549
http://www.sony.dk/product/vn-e-series/vpceb1s1e-bj

I've allways considered "gaming" laptops to be a joke because of the high price, but this is pretty damn amazing imo... and it's a VAIO, so it is auto-sex :3

I'm moving to a dorm soon, so I was kind of worried by only having a netbook

Going to suck that battery dry in no time having all that stuff.

I personally don't like the feeling of highend' VAIOs, tried them in Arab Emirates... if that is not going to move far from a power plug its pretty good desktop replacement, but doesn't really work out as movable laptop.

I already have a netbook with a 6cell that goes ~5 hours of constant use.. so portability is covered...

This is my desktop replacement for when I move to a tiny dorm-room

Approximate battery life should be ~3 hours... not too bad considering the amount of features it has feeding off the battery...

Bought a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard and a Phenom II 550 Dual Core 3.1 Ghz Black Edition CPU. Im gonna try unlocking the other 2 cores tomorrow so wish me luck. Apparently success rate is over 50%

I thought the 785 chipset boards were best for this.

Tbh I didnt know there is a preferred chipset. This board is generally considered great for overclocking/unlocking that's why I chose it. It has the required SouthBridge and ACC.
But as far as I know its mostly up to luck. If I got 2 really bad cores no board is going to help me

Isn't it just a teeny weeny 22"?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Seriously.. I got my 20" T200 specifically because I can't stand bigger displays... I have my old TV for movies and use my monitor for gaming... a 22" is just too big imo...

SRGB mode and colour profiles. If you want better than that, you need a calibration tool, and those are expensive.
