For music its winamp since I was born.

Winamp sucks, I just hate software that tries to install a bunch of other things with itself.. I have to toggle in to your toolbar, not out, same with sending anonymous data..
Songbird is nice, though.

I don't get it, why do people think VLC sucks? It can play everything and all Codecs are integrated which means you don't get a seperate codec pack you have to install like with MPC...Winston_Churchill wrote:

I can not find ANYTHING wrong with VLC...

Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me

using it right now, listening to music and using built in browser
It has a fairly weak codec pack, playing HD movies on it usually results in choppiness and audio lagFloppY_ wrote:

MPC-HC for HD videos

I don't know about this, I have some very small encodes of Mythbusters - about 150mB for a 40 minute episode. They look a lot better on MPC-HC than on VLC.tupla_s wrote:

Ugh, aXXo is among the worst release groups in the world. Try playing a FraMeSToR encode on VLCFloppY_ wrote:

Lol Winamp. Such fail, along with Songbird. Songbird still cannot monitor more than one music folder, still rapes Ram and their new 'feather' is pretty hideous. Winamp has fugly skins and isn't light on the computer either.
Nice double post Zim
Songbird combined with 7 can monitor as many folders as you want since you can put folders under Music Library -> Monitor Music Library. Works perfectly. And Winamp has some sexy skins, still not a huge fan though. However, I still havent found my perfect music player.

Who'd have thought it was so hard to make a decent music player ...
AIMP2 for life. It's like Winamp, except it doesn't suck.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yeah guys, winamp is just terrible. Am I cool yet? Am I?
