Maxtor... uh oh I hope you didn't pay much for that, and I recommend backing up most important files on some other HDD. I have seen so many Maxtors die its not even funny anymore.

8TB of stuff it would be really irritating to lose. I cant say I have anything that I desperately need to have on my computer, anything thats of utmost importance is on a server thats backed up anyways. But losing 8TB of movies/music/files would be extremely annoyingFloppY_ wrote:

Once you try Blu-ray rips, there is no going backWinston_Churchill wrote:
When you have 10-20GB movies, 8TB doesnt seem like all that much. I'm constantly running out of room.

Well, unless youre getting the 30-50GB Blu-Ray rip, technically its an encodeGC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

I think I have around 500GB left out of my 8TB, going to have to load up on some more HDDs soon

Nicely done. I've never lost a drive. In fact, I just hooked up a 60gb and 40gb IDE yesterday, took two films, 800+ tracks, and 615 photos from /b/ off them haha. Then reformatted them. muahahahahahaWinston_Churchill wrote:
Come to think of it, they've survived multiple power surges and outages. I've only lost one drive so far, but thankfully I saw it coming and replaced the drive with zero losses

Yeah they're olllllld. Like 3-4 years old. I just bought a new 500GB on Saturday, got a 250GB in the pc already, and my lappy is a 160gb, but about 100gb of that is free as I only use it for music, and movies/tv. (Yes, I only have 60gb in total of media.)Winston_Churchill wrote:
60GB and 40GB? I only have 1 drive under 500GB Even my laptop one is 500GB, most are 1TB or 1.5TB. I actually have some duplication (HDDs given to family for movies) so overall, including those, its around 10-12GB lol. I cant wait until SSDs get better size/price so I can get off of spinning disks.
Will you be here all week, or is it safe to come back tomorrow night?.Sup wrote:
