I'm not seeing the "typical" rollcage in the car

Well due to it being a convertible, it's probably a half cage, look at Caterham 7's. If its a race car then those A-pillars are more than likely re-inforced.
The height of his seat saved his neck from breaking.
The 4 point safety harness fitted to those recaros and probably the roll cage as mentioned
