Still can't get it to work .. Reinstalled again.. when I start the process it just sits at 35K kb memory usage and 50% CPU
tried +restart 1 on the target line?

Trying one last time, uninstalled everything, deleted all BF2 folder (which I also did last time..)
Got it working now.. I see how spoiled I am by having COD:MW2 actually, some things in BF2 are really shit compared to that game
