But showing nipples in a subway ad isn't the same as two kids sending lewd pictures of each other being investigated for child pornography.

@Ticia - the kids in the article aren't on trial yet.  If you want to make a point you have to understand what you are reading.

What is your point?
Dense much.

My point is why are they even being referred to the probation department in the first place?

Because the people that interpreted the law in this case are dumbies.  I covered that in my first and second posts?

KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Yeah dumb story I agree.  Instead of holding 'America' to task the author should hold the prosecutors (you know, the people who decided to charge the kids with the crimes) to task.

KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

I take issue with this because pining on about a generic entity "America" is pointless and does no justice to the issue of laws being open to interpretation for a reason and the hijacking of personal freedom by moral socialists (the people that "continue to see nudity as a crime" as the author puts it).  Yes, we have child pornography laws to punish people who exploit children.  No, children shouldn't be punished under those laws. Is the fact that these kids were indicted under those charges a problem with the laws or the way they are being interpreted?
Did you miss them or not understand what I was trying to say?  I bolded it in case you missed the first time.

And I am being accused of being dense...

You know mighty well what i'm pointing at but if you wanna keep going i'm game.

If this was the first case i would give it to you but your interpreters are off the mark too often, don't you think?

Lawmakers I guarantee did not have this in mind when the legislation was written.  There will be a 'gitch bill' on the way.  Just like FL did.  Democracy isn't perfect but it sure beats the shit outta the system in france.
It's funny you should say that.  France's system, government-wise, resembles ours much more than say that of...  the U.K. for example.

France certainly has a better healthcare system than ours.  They also have a more functional outlook on sex as well.
Well, Thomas Jefferson wrote their constitution, what do you expect?
Exactly.  People blast France, but if anything, they're kind of like a European America in many respects.

The French have their problems like everyone else, but they also have their strengths -- partially because of similarities to us.

I know...  They have a silly prejudice against us as well.

I guess familiarity breeds contempt.  We're actually much more similar than I guess either of us wants to admit to.

I don't have a problem with it though.  They have some hot women...  lol

Instead of me making your argument why don't you make it?

If your argument is that "we only here about this nonsense in the US" that's because of what I pointed out - We are the City upon a Hill.  Portugal, Argentina, Sweden, Ireland...not exactly power players on the international field.  People care about how the US and Americans think, how we act, our policy etc. far more than they care about any other country.  We (the U.S.) draw attention to ourselves.  You could ask anyone here how often they read Portuguese news and I'm sure you'd find the response to be minimal.  Portugal as a country isn't an international player on the level the US is - not many are.  We draw attention to ourselves, for better or worse.

You are the one inferring from my statement.  I didn't say "America, Fuck Yeah!"  Either you refuse to accept the fact that the U.S. is a far bigger political player on an international level than most countries (and therefore under the microscope more than other countries) or you don't.  I don't understand your leap in logic from me pointing out the above to me saying "America is awesome", but that's probably because I don't have an agenda in my argument, unlike you.  Perhaps you don't get my subtle irony in referring to the U.S. as the City upon a Hill, and that is why you misconstrued what I am pointing out.  Never did I say we (the U.S.) are better than you (any other country).

You can eyeroll all you want.  What's your argument again?

Keep in mind positive news doesn't sell papers as much as negative news does. America is a far bigger player on the international stage than any other as Ken said, therefore more ridiculous stories about it will appear.

And really, you're a pedophile for sending a picture of your junk to someone your age? Christ some people are thick. Just tell the parents.

No you sure didn't say America is better, just speak bad or good but keep talking about US 'cause you call yourselves the city upon a hill.

Isn't it ironic?
I'm proving your point.

But what this has to do with the burial of the "show me yours" game? Still waiting.
