It's true. If I meet some jackass online in a game like Halo I will shoot him first when I see him.androoz wrote:

I find I play better after I have meditated on the shitter for 30min's chain smoking joints and muttering motivational slogans such as "max it to the extreme, push the envelope", while emptying my bowls.
I play better when I'm tired. Roughly around 1-2 in the morning. Can only play like that for an hour-ish though until I get too tired and don't kill anyone ><

40% A good day
30% experience
5% remembering maps
20% reaction time
5% hardware
30% experience
5% remembering maps
20% reaction time
5% hardware
Remembering maps is as important as having good hardware?... okay then.aerodynamic wrote:

in your opinion the most important factor in being a good gamer is having 'a good day'aerodynamic wrote:

well most of us must be having a good day every day
Well as we all know, no one has a good day in Scotland, fact.I'm Jamesey wrote:

So it really has to be something else
i've seen very good players play bad because something happened that day. Same thing goes for a noob who has a good day and played like a pro.I'm Jamesey wrote:

The day after, he was a noob as always.
So the noob has a good day, played like a pro, the day after he was a noob as always, so not a good fps gameraerodynamic wrote:

I'm struggling to see your point.
Logic says that a noob is incapable of playing like a pro, its why they have been labelled a noob in the first place.aerodynamic wrote:

I know what you mean tho, about the good day thing. It does help but it's not paramount.
well he became a good fps gamer for that day, and any other good day he had.I'm Jamesey wrote:

in all seriousness, i think age has alot to do with this as well. the older i get, the more i notice my younger brother kicking my ass at fps games. i think reflexes are the most important skill. in-game IQ is also important, but a quick shooter can usually mitigate a poor strategic decision.
and being irishpride helps too

Well said, but this thread is not about how one can become a better gamer (practice is of course the answer). It's about analyzing the so called gaming skill to it's factors.Lucien wrote:

Those analyses are wrong. Again, it is not about percentages, and while you COULD break down each game into every single unique aspect of skill, nobody does this, nobody can do it, and nobody has ever done it for any one game. Some people might develop a new technique here or there but most of the improvement you gain through practice has absolutely nothing to do with trying to break down the game into 10 easy stepsMetal-Eater-GR wrote:

Simply: You got it or you dont.
There are tactical advantages you can used in-game or outside which gamers invest money on to improve their gaming.
In any case, you are good at game play or not.
Age is another factor, my 10 yr son or nephew can mash more buttons in less time than I can. It does not help when my hands start to cramp either.
