I like pie.

NYC has banned handguns. This guy had a registered shotgun and killed two of the four people that walked into his store to rob him. He received no jail time in the second most liberal city in America

sounds like Canada now really... when attacked you're advised to just give up and wait for the policeTicia wrote:

I don't own a safe deposit at the restaurant i have one back at home. Last time they just came through the front door as i was closing and forced me to open the register which was loaded, people tell me that was good because if it had no money they'd probably would harm me physically. It's weird but i wasn't really afraid i was so pissed off i could've blow their heads off if i had a gun.SEREMAKER wrote:

if guns get made illegal here... mine are all gone thanks to everything having to be registeredunnamednewbie13 wrote:

I'd sarcastically wish the feds the best of luck in trying to gather them all up. What a hornet's nest THAT would be...
knives as a self defense method is really not a good idea... unless you have a lot of training with itTSI wrote:

I like this idea. Get one of those cans of wasp killer that shoot like 22 feet.RAIMIUS wrote:
Poison and other debilitating chemicals usually take time to work. What is the point of killing a robber if they shoot you before dying?
You want something that can nearly instantly STOP an attacker (killing is not the intended goal, but it may be an effect).
Interesting idea: I've been told that certain types of bug spray actually work better than mace/pepper spray against humans and dogs. I have not verified this, but it is an interesting idea. Bug spray isn't normally considered a weapon by law. I'd assume you can have bug spray available without legal consequences...

Now that's retarded ... you may find it strange but infact we value life in Europe ... and we don't automatically presume criminals will use deadly force, we have a different gun culture and it takes a hell of lot more for people starting shooting at eachother over petty things like money, cars and material goods.JohnG@lt wrote:

I know. I have a friend who owns a coffee shop who is facing trial right now 'cause he shot a burglar and the thing is his gun was legal but the courts are seeing as a case of excessive self-defense.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

Either way i'm screwed.

Shotguns are usually easier to get a license for than handguns.
Replica guns, blank-firers etc - May be useful if the other guy doesn't have a gun, and can't be used against you if you lose it in a struggle.
OTOH If the other guy does have a gun you're more likely to get shot.
I had my Colt Trooper deactivated rather than hand it in, I reckoned it looked convincing, made all the right clicking noises and if any potential bad guy really wasn't convinced it would have made an excellent mace with the rubber grip, good weight and blunt edges.
While pistol-whipping sounds like kinky fun a real pistol could do a lot of damage.
About a year ago i would totally agree with you. But after having a gun pointed at a couple of times and having lost a fairly amount of money i'm just over it,i'm not about to kill someone but i need to show these fuckers not to mess with me.Varegg wrote:

Insurance will cover your loss anyways so why risk your own life?
If that is the case, planning your response around a gun is stupid.Ticia wrote:

If you do not intend to use it, you would be escalating their perceived threat while not actually providing any additional means to stop an attack against you.
