k I have a question I had an Cat Scan before and I didnt like it, first of u had to drink some liquid well I didnt mind that part so much, u had to drink  2 or 3 bottles forgot how many ounces each bottle was maybe 15oz or so or more, any who when I had the CT Scan u are weren't supposed to have anything electric on you while they send you through that machine. The other thing which I didnt like is that they would insert some blue liquid or not sure what the proper term for it is (k found it proper term for it is...CT contrast or pharmaceutical agents (liquids) and are sometimes referred to as "dye".) , to your vein.... and then you had to sign some contractual agreement stating that if you die the hospital wouldn't be held responsible...Teh contractual agreement stated that that around 2% of people die from that crap or the stuff they insert into your body... the blue liquid stuff.. the question I have is that last time I had that Cat Scan I had trouble breathing once they inserted that blue liquid content since it mixes with ur blood system...but u eventually piss it out after couple of hours... so Im likely not sure yet to have another scan since I got injured again working out... and not looking forward to it... Anyone know from previous cat scans if they had the option of opting out of not receiving that blue liquid into your veins.... and still getting an CT scan.... let me know..

thx

The blue fluid will turn you into a Na'vi.

No help to be found here bro, ask your doctor.

The shit they'd be injecting is contrast solution, innit? If you want any good results from your scan, you'll need contrast. As far as that electronics on your person thing, are you sure you're not thinking of an MRI (although maybe you're still not allowed anyway)?

Well last time I had an CT Scan they told me not to wear anything metal or to take off any metal objects I had (watches, necklaces, keys and such)... also yea ATG I ought to ask my doctor...also maybe it was an MRI not sure it was one of the two I know they used some big ass machine it was intimidating

They're only trying to help you. Let them know you had trouble breathing last time, and talk to your doctor.

Is having an MRI/CT scan from just a simple workout injury necessary?

You didn't mention what injury you sustained, but if it was just a muscle tear or strain why have a full body scan?

I didn't drink contrast when I had mine done. It was for migraine headaches. I did drink it when I had an upper gi though. That was one heavy dixie cup :S. I'd rather drink it than have dye shot into my spine. That's what they did when they gave me a discogram (twice). Horrible horrible pain.

I've had a CAT scan in 2006 and a MRI in 2000. I didn't have to drink anything. I think that is the old style.

a) why do you need a CAT scan for a workout injury?

b) it's sweet you have sucj faith in bf2s but like ATG said, speak to your doctor. Asking for help here in this case is pointless, unless anyone here actually is a doctor.

I had some injection for a full-body bone scan.
Nothing was required for my brain scan though.

LMAO, isn't the "Blue" liquid some type of radioactive material, like Radium or something, hence having to sign a decleration form? I can't remember now. Do it, whats the worse that could happen

Cat scans are similar to some 400 xrays worth of radiation.

not radium, that would kill you stone dead. it'd have to be a fairly short-lived substance... technetium, perhaps?

Out of the total of 6 billion, yeah I suppose it is a very low percentage.

The dye helps make the soft tissue like ligaments and muscle stand out more for screening.

I went through the process several years ago to tighten a ligament in my shoulder. I must of over looked or it probably was not in the paperwork I signed that mentioned a life threatening side affect. They did not mention any thing it either. You should be ok.
