I enjoy battlefield 2 quite a bit, but one thing that annoys me is that the single player is only 16 player maps.  I sometimes feel like flying a helicopter arround, or a jet on large maps, but sometimes it is hard to get the jets or choppers in multiplayer since everyone stands around waiting for it to spawn.

I think EA should consider to have support for 32 and 64 player maps in single player.  It's not like it is that difficult to do.  You wouldn't have to change the AI, graphics and how the game runs.  All you need to do is add a few players and a larger map.  I think the BF2 experience would be so much better.

I was just wondering what others think.  I think it would be smart if EA did this at least for the new BF 2142.  On the business side of things the game would be more appealing to people that don't have highspeed internet.

I hope to hear some ideas.

Try this link - its a mod which allows you to have 32 or 64 bots in single player. I've only just found this so I'm going to give it a try. Not sure if allows you to use the larger maps or more bots on the smaller maps. Anyway, here is the link .... I've not tried it, as I said, so not sure what its like. Hope it helps

The Single player mode really needs to be expanded.  Larger maps, **intelligent** bots (hey - they are great shots in expert - but put'em in a tank and they earn the "Driving Miss Daisy" ribbon!), all unlocks.

Please?

EA did a poll to see how many people played single player, it was like 27% plays, 63 multi only. So I doubt they will do anything. And also, when I added that mod, I couldn't play on any of the good servers, I get the "No modified content allowed" message.  i

Do not run the mod when you try to connect to a ranked game.  If you were playing with the mod, close BF2 and reopen it.

I think there should be stats/ranks for offline play.  They already have the code, so let a small rank server parse your logs when you play offline.

They may want to make some minor changes to it to prevent people from hacking it to learn how to hack the real ranked servers, but this isn't that hard, just don't use encryption for the offline mode, and replace the net code with a local directory scan.

I'd rather earn my unlocks in offline mode, and I think it would be fun.

Of course, having ranked mods would also be fun also.  I think the mod community could come up with some cool ranking systems, say for Navy, SAS, and the other armies.

The thing I'd most rather have is my unlocks. I really should have ran that singleplayer unlock whatsit before choosing my latest weapon as I wonder whether I should have gone specops rather than sniper. A singleplayer game would have made the choice slightly easier. Now it's 3000 points to my next one.

I know EA want us to choose carefully, but surely choosing blindly is dissatisfying?

I would like it, but having that many bots, and needing to run it completely by your computer (while playing as well) would hurt your computer.  Although I do wish I could use or test out unlocks in single player.

I play with 31 bots in single player (for 32 total) all the time. I have an athlon 3500+ and 2 gigs of ram, and I dont really notice any difference between playing with 15 or 31 bots, havent tried 63 yet though:P Search for a website called battlefield singleplayer, belive it was hosted on planetbattlefield. You can find instructions to set up more bots and DL's of the maps with 32/64 player versions that have AI support.

I play 63 on a crappy computer with an X300 video card, 1 gig of ram, and some crappy 3.0 ghz processor from Pentium.

Not bad at all.

I want to try a 100 and see what happens.

And you don't need to download mods, look in the mods folder, Bf2, and look for a text file with AI and follow the instructions

No errors for unmodified content.
