Well, here's my question...  Do the amenities make the taxation worth it?

Do you think it's better to have higher disposable income with more expensive amenities that are privately run, or less disposable income but with socialized amenities?
Not having lived long enough in WEU, I cannot tell you. 1 month ain't enough to form a solid opinion.

EEU is quite fucked up though, the prices are the ones from the WEU along with salaries from the USSR-era.

Epic failure ensues.
Yuck...  why not move back to America then?
It's planned tbh.

Well there you have it...  Ioan can't be anti-American if he wants to move here.  At least, that wouldn't make much sense...

What's this thread about anyway, Macbeth whining that everyone says the US is a shitty place to live. I think the only relevant post in the entire thread was my post asking if NJ really was that bad. Because that's the only way this guy must have got this attitude/image of everyone saying how awful conditions are in the US, surely.

America is so big that the quality of life varies a lot depending on the state you live in.

For example...  Colorado is awesome.  New Jersey sucks (from what I hear).

Also, quality can vary a lot within a state.  Chapel Hill, NC is pretty cool, but neighboring Durham sucks ass.

I haven't seen Ioan post here much, so you'll have to provide some examples.  He must not frequent D&ST much.

Anyway, I do find this discussion ironic in many respects considering something Galt said in another thread.

He was complaining about the "ease" at which people maintained middle class status in the past and how the current trend means people have to work harder to maintain it (and how that's supposedly good).

If we take that logic to the next step, that means First World citizens are just lazy and should have to struggle the same way that developing world citizens have to, in order to acquire a decent standard of living.

Yet, when someone suggests that being American is privileged compared to most, he's anti-American.

Make up your minds people.
I wasn't complaining about the ease of maintaining their 'middle classhood'. I was stating that it was unearned and unwarranted to expect an easy life and middle class living when you've spit on education and hard work and instead embraced a union that artificially cements you in place via racketeering and blackmail. Attaining a middle class standard of living in this country is not difficult by any means, even without the artificial union manufacturing jobs. It just means you have to put a bit of effort into your life and not be a zombie that is only superficially human. Stumbling your way through high school while partying every weekend instead of studying because you know you have a union job waiting for you devalues every other profession that requires at least a little bit of effort to attain the same level of comfort.

Everyone says that we in this country lack skills in math and science and that our education is subpar. Why? I say it's because life got too easy for too long and people stopped appreciating what they had. Our society let others catch up and in some cases pass us because our parents were too busy spitting on their parents for working too hard and not giving them enough hugs. Nevermind that their parents granted them the highest standard of living in the world via their labors. I fucking hate the hippie generation and can't wait for them all to die, seriously, no other generation has done more to damage and destroy this nation than them.

And France... is on a decline. You can't sustain 15%+ unemployment rates indefinitely, nor can you sustain legislated jobs for life. You wanna talk about a place where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, France is #1. If you're not on the inside and working you're completely fucked. Sure, they'll give you a pittance to live off of but there's such a large underclass that has no prospects just because those on the 'inside' have entrenched themselves so deeply. If any Western country is on the brink of explosion and open revolt it's France.

Oh, and they can blame the immigrants all they want but it's their own extreme racism that's caused their lack of integration and job prospects.

The best they can give you. Didn't mean the best on the world. My point was you can't buy better health care service here because the free one is already the best.

even if they don't they get the same service. Honestly I'm not even sure if there are any private hospitals here

I'd rather know why our immigration rate is so high... I'm not just talking about Mexicans neither. Our immigration laws are supposed to be tougher than most. Germany is pretty tough too.
We have tougher immigration laws, but higher allowances for immigration totals.

Most countries literally don't keep as many spaces open as we do, mostly because they don't have the land or resources for it.

When looking at immigrants per capita, our rate is actually lower than Canada's.

Canada apparently has the highest rate in the world.
Canada is underpopulated compared to the rest of the world to.

Well here in Taiwan we have a public system and its pretty damn good. Well my family is pretty wealthy (Gramps has a pretty large business employing about 150 people, family business in manufacturing + other side business'), and my grampa has spinal injuring and he sure as hell aint going through the normal channels. Were getting connected doctors and managers of hospitals organizing his operation, I'm sure that's not part of the "public" health care system.

Wherever you are, rich are rich.

"Health care is a public service provided through the public health service network. its says "on an equal basis" so it doesn't really matter if there are private hospitals or not. For all you know those could be mental hospitals
