man, I dont know how you did it with females in the unit. When i went psyop I finally worked with em and, it was cool having ass and titties around in the field, these women made terrible garrison soldiers. my old psyop 1sg was also a married LAPD sgt and he was banging the big breasted e-5 Orange county sheriffs deputy while they were in iraq last year.
I hated working with females in general. They were always (except for one) trying to find ways to ditch out on work or to find a nice quiet place to hide. Because of the stupid PC affirmative action shit they always got promoted faster too. I dunno whether it was just my unit or if it's army wide but my senior NCOs were all black and looked out for black guys and women when it came time to send people to the board. I've never experienced reverse racism like I did while I was in.
Never had issues with reverse discrimination in Military Intelligence, or the higher GT score Engineering areas (Surveyor, etc)...JohnG@lt wrote:

Look out for 'your kind' all you like, but if you don't have the GT score to even be in the MOS in the first place, it doesn't much matter.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
And let's see how many people take that as racism, without reading this spoiler. Hint: Had 2 black E-7's, a Samoan E-8, E-5 from Ghana. SMART people tend not to use the race card - they play the Brains card instead

I had a GT score of 126. I was in the Signal Corps. My MOS had a 110 GT requirement to get in.rdx-fx wrote:

Sadly, our sister MOS didn't have that requirement and they also had lower scores required for promotion most of the time. So... my unit in particular had a bunch of NCOs from the 'other' MOS. The 'other' MOS also had a much higher retention rate because it didn't translate as well to the civilian world and because the stupid motherfuckers in charge drove everyone with brains and common sense out of the army.

We had that problem for a while in one of my Engineer MOS. Solved neatly by Dept. of the Army when they rolled the three MOSes into one (Surveyor, Soils Analyst, Draftsman). Suddenly, the 'dumber' soils guys were competing with the much brighter survey guys for promotion, and the GT requirement for initial entry went up, nearly matching the highest scores of either original MOS (survey and drafting).JohnG@lt wrote:

The truly unfortunate part of infantry units, is that for many of the brightest ones, 11B is just a stepping stone to Ranger or SF units.
Really suck bit of it is that it seems like even the non-infantry components of the SOCOM units are fed by the 11B 'machine'.
Even if you're intel or engineer, you're a second-class citizen if you didn't come through Benning by way of 11B school.
Edit: No, I'm not SF. Didn't even play one on TV

Infantry runs this shit

True. The essential point of the Army is the Infantry, and you all do do the majority of the heavy lifting.eleven bravo wrote:

However..
Unless you're a repeat victim of traumatic brain injury, you can't tell me you'd want to be out in the field without the support of your Engineers, Artillery, Aviation, or Armor (at a minimum).
As an Engineer, I can think of many times we were quite a bit in front of the Infantry.
As M.I., I can think of a lifetime of times we were so far out in front of the FLOT (and Infantry), that 1/2 the crew took it as 'clearance for naptime' when we hit the '20km from FLOT' marker.
Back to the OP - Gays, openly or DADT, have a place in the military. Preferably in any branch but the Infantry
Any other branch could integrate them, mostly openly, just as the other branches have integrated women and some handicapped.
The upside of DADT was to keep out those that were 'too gay to function'. In other words, it kept out those who wore their sexuality on their sleeve, so to speak, rather than quietly tucked away under their uniform.
Unfortunately, it also caught up some of the gays that were professional and quiet at work, but happened to be gay when they got home.
Killeen sucks. There's really no other way to describe that shithole.JohnG@lt wrote:
