No, they're power tripping assholes who feel they are above the law and better than everyone else because they carry a gun. I fucking hate cops but they're a necessary evil.

aww did someone get his fine doubled because he cursed out the cop who pulled him over for speeding?

I'd say the problem with asshole cops isn't just the cop himself but the police chief. Police departments nationwide should be very exigent in their requirements of who can join. Their training should be paramilitary style, kinda like a lot of State Police departments. And they should require their officers to remain fit. While an overweight cop can always just be given a desk job or made to operate things like speed guns, it would give the whole force more respect.

For instance in DC a lot of the cops don't look like they could catch a criminal without zapping him or blowing his brains out. However, in the "hip" parts of town on Friday and Saturday nights they send what seem like the Green Berets of the force out to patrol. Hulking ogres of men who could take down even the drunkest, most PCP-laden guy.

Nah, I've always been respectful whenever I've been pulled over. I just see too many douchebags like this one guy on my daily commute who will park on the side of the road, cause traffic to pile up and stand there with his arms folded and a haughty look on his face. People like him just enjoy being a total prick because they know that no one can or will say anything to them.

Officers like that are just a detriment to the force. They should be canned and do something like loss prevention at Best Buy.

Its scary living where kids get a driving license at 16 and they think its just like Gran Turismo, press reset and your car is back together.
Or where kids try to kill other kids because there's "nowt to do"... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/engl … 473978.stm
I love how they got sentenced to "detention." Do you people actually punish criminals anymore?
Firstly, I'm not British so they're nothing to do with me. Secondly, it was "indefinite detention" they got.

Detention = being locked up. You have the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, for example.

Locked up for 30 months - which does seem a little on the low side, but I suppose they are children.

Ah - just realised that they are not eligible for release until considered to no longer represent a danger to the public - so they probably won't be released. Ever.

Does anyone else here feel that with the ever increases advancements in technology that people are becoming less social and friendly?

For instance; have you ever been waiting somewhere with a large number of other people and everyone ignores each other to play on their phones or listens to music? Didn't people used to react to each other back in the days before cell phones and ipods?

Is it just me or are people generally becoming less social and interactive with each other?
If you're talking about people you are friends with then maybe you have a point but if this is about talking to strangers then hell no. Ipods and cellphones are the best "don't bother me" message and i love it.

Plus technology is helping millions of people to interact. Just the internet alone has done more for the timid and introvert than any kind of "how to be social 101" shit could ever do.

Technology is no substitute for real life socializing. There is also nothing wrong with being a little shy.

Anyways you're friends Macbeth sound a bit spoiled or at least very boring. Do they really have nothing to do, other than play games on their iphone? Nothing to joke about?

No but is the next best. People have never been so alone they say and i have to laugh at that, never before we had the chance to meet those who we can share the same interests with.

The weirdo no-life who adores insects now has a forum board like this one where he met the people like him who are right now going to the Dragonfly Lovers Convention in Vegas where hes gonna get drunk for the first time, gamble all his money and most importantly finally get laid.

What's not to love about todays technology???

I completely agree with this, whilst people bang on about technology alienating people, in truth it's having the opposite affect, it's opening up new areas for people, allowing them to meet new people, hell, online dating is a prime example of this!

Okay I'll admit, the internet can be an outlet for those who would otherwise not socialize at all. That still doesn't solve the problem though. What happens if they decide to play video games or post on forums all day and call that socializing? Definitely not healthy.

But that wasn't the point. The OP is talking about kids his age who are standing together, zoning out with their cellphones and what not, when you might expect them to be joking with each other. They must all feel intimidated by each other or something, because even some of the most boring people I know don't even do that.
