need help with media player 10

sometimes when i watch a video clip (any file type, even WMA etc) i cannot see the video, i can hear whats on the video clip

sometimes it does work, but other times (most of the time) it doesnt????

why is this?

P.S dont know that much about computers, so dont give me technical answers.
and not sure if this is in the correct forum or not

sounds like you are missing the correct codec to play the video.

try google searching for xpcodec pack.

has a heap of the most popular codec for mp10

codec stands for COmpress and DECompress
its so vids you download dont have to be 900gig to get ok quality.

try downloading VLC player or windows media player classic.

i just installed the xp codec pack and no change has occurred,

do i need to open something in the pack or restart my computer?

and download the ffdshow-alpha codec. I couldnt see movies and stuff but after downloading this, everything is fine and dandy.

ahhhh, the problem.

lets say i have FFDshow installed and movies work fine, next day start comp watch movie, doesnt work. uninstall FFDshow and works fine. next day, doesnt work, install FFDshow, then works.

this keeps happening

need help again
