A 'great' flood has been documented in countless cultures and civilisations around Europe. The event most likely happened, though the story in the bible as with anything has most likely been exaggerated over generations for dramatic effect.

Yeah it's interesting that so many religions around the world have some sort of flood myth.

Noooo.. I wonder if talking on the news can go on your head shot?

But seriously Cali is a pretty state, but all the shit that comes with it why bother living there?  It seems like every 6 months there's something else to mess your house up.
Nah, in general, it only affects those idiots in Malibu, and those who build in areas historically known to naturally be fire zones.

If you live here, 95% of our days are awesome.  The rains just stopped, sun is coming through the clearing clouds, and it's just beautiful right now.  Check out Santa Monica beach in the Spring/Summer, and you won't want to leave, traffic aside.

Been there, Nice place to visit wouldn't want to live there.. it's 95% out of the year, but then you get 5% which happens every year.

Not to mention the taxes and real estate prices

I'd rather live in the Pacific NW.

we pushed some guys mercedes with our Jeep because it got stuck in a flooded street in Long Beach, he was knee deep in water in a residential neighborhood. trash cans floating down the street and some lady with her iPhone out taking pics or something from her front lawn

The storm drains at my school launched the metal covers off the openings 6 inches into the air in several spots

It's pretty crazy right now.  Tornado warnings, flood warnings, people in kayaks paddling down the street in Long Beach.

@11bravo: people in SoCal freak out during rains because for the most part we live in a desert.
GUNNA PULL A 187 ON YO MOTHA FUCKIN KAYAK.

No but on a serious note, how is the gang reaction to this. Looting, Float-by shootings?

Actually Mitch I think you'll find that the gangs in L.A. are often glorified and romanticised by the media and others.  Contrary to popular belief you can walk down the street most anywhere in Long Beach and Compton without having to throw up your set or worrying about pulling your gat to lay some buster down.

The 'gang reaction' is probably the same as everyone elses - "Holy shit that's a lot of rain!"

in all seriousness, Ive been through worse rain out here.  I think I was in the 5th grade and its the first time I heard about el nino.  Although, at the time I was catching the public bus to school so that meant a lot of time standing at the bus stop in the rain so maybe it just seemed worse.

sorry, i was thinking out loud.

to contribute to the topic, i lived half my time in So cal, half nor cal. it seemed to me more, steady rain north - torrential, seldom rain south.
and then with the wildfires, i'll bet this year was record for mudslides. "God" must really hate so cal, what with the earthquakes and all . . .

So Cal is great man.  This rain shit may be a big deal but only because it never happens.  I dont remember the last time in rained during the summer months.
