It's that time of the day again... time for another islam thread! But this one is a little different. This is a strange anomaly my colleagues and I at work noticed about Google's search suggestions...

1. Type "Christianity is" into Google and see how many suggestions are offered in the drop-down menu.
2. Now try the same with "Judaism is" and see how many suggestions are offered in the drop-down menu.
3. Now finally try the same with "Islam is".

Can Google not offer even one suggestion about what Islam is? I smell a conspiracy... dun dun dun!!!

Discuss.

NOTE: I understand this may be better suited to the Everything Else drawer but I thought it might be missed by the usual suspects who engage in discussion on this popular topic if I put it there.

We had a debate about this before, look for a thread titled "lowing was right."

I actually did a search but obviously didn't use the right terms... I'll take the plagiarism issue up with my work colleague (who shamelessly passed it off as his own!).

But Google says it’s just a software problem.

“This is a bug and we’re working to fix it as quickly as we can,” a Google spokesman told Wired.com.
So they say, anyway.  :p

It's not a very good conspiracy theory though as you can still access an inordinate amount of hate-sites attacking Islam on a whole host of levels using Google search... it just doesn't suggest them.

Type into Google "Chinese war crimes" without quotation marks and see what comes up.

Articles about Japanese war crimes against the Chinese.  Probably higher up the search priority thingie than articles/sites about the Chinese actually committing war crimes

But you'd think typing in Chinese war crimes is specific enough to give some results for it.

The PRC is too perfect to ever do something like the Great Leap Forward. Kind of like Japan refuses to teach its children about it's war crimes.

Blame falls on the US as well, from Kindergarten until 8th grade you hear nothing in school but how wonderful the US Government was and is, how it was always fighting for freedom, etc. Then from 9th grade on its like a switch is flipped and all your taught about is how we exterminated so many Indians, how racist everyone is, etc. My English teacher has taken it upon himself to not teach english but instead talk politics everyday. Yesterday he made the comments that Bush hates black people, there are 6,000,000 murders in the US every year, and 600 in Europe(including Eastern Europe he said), and when some moron said that the people of Orleans deserved it, he called the kid a bigot. That is what is wrong with our educational system, even if its a little off topic.

EDIT: This guy miraculously does a wonderful job of connecting with the kids, partially because he constantly tells us stories about what a bad ass he was back in high school, and how everyone loved him, and then tell us he got a 1870 on the SAT, which at the time was a 1600 point test(I can let this one go though, possible mistake.)

Australia is like the least free Western country ever. Infact it can only call itself a Western country cos it's sort of developed, is a democracy and full of white people

but enough about that. The guy above me, one example of a teacher isn't really an example of how a system fails

True, its an extreme example, and I doubt most kids run into a teacher like that(took me until my senior year when I finally did). Granted, I've had teachers similar, a little too vocal about their opinions, and in my own opinion, a little to casual about the facts, but they're human. My english teacher, mentioned above, does not have his own room, and while we were in another teachers room, they were having a conversation about Christmas. A student had put Merry Christmas on the white board in cut out letters. She, in fear that she might be sued for predujuce, decidede to add under it in marker, Merry yada yada(she listed every other religion she could find, from Atheism, to Hinduism, to Satanism). Another kid who thought that it was unfair that Merry Chirstmas was in colored paper while the rest were just written filled a report with the Admin, thankfully it went nowhere.

I realize that is slightly off the topic of school, and even further off the topic of internet censorship, even if it is slightly related.

I wonder I have enough commas in there...
