Diesel_dyk : come on enough with the 'we saved europe twice' bullshit. Gets so old. That seems to be one of the US's prime excuses for any old shit. 'Hell we saved you guys, TWICE! So fuck you!'
blah blah tbh, it doesn't wash an excuse anymore.
You, personally, did fuck all, as did no-one on this forum. And while not eating may be a sign of poverty, I repeat - being fat isn't a sign of success (at least not necessarily, although some successful people are fat fuckers). It's s sign of not looking after yourself, not eating well, not exercising, being lazy, and, often, being poor - because it's cheaper to eat McDs than eat a balanced meal for a lot of people. It gets a bit desperate if some of yuou Americans are saying 'we're fat! Look at us! er...USA USA!??'
pfff.
I think you got the point... you were basically saying you're a ignorant fat lazy and ruining the environment. And said, fat is better that starving, we give lots overseas, our economy is so robust that we have more open markets than you, and we are so lazy that when push comes to shove we're there to help whether that's Europe or Haiti. /sarcasm You may not like it but there it is. Pull your "you're fat lazy ignorant" rhetoric and you might find that I won't react by throwing up a picture of a Ford Excursion diesel and basically say choke on my fumes (no, from the other tail pipe) because I can do that all day long.
And BTW I shopped at IKEA once so that's all I need to know about Finland................. ignorance is bliss

You use a computer which is made by large industrial manufacturing companies polluting the Earth. It even uses electricity which mainly comes from oil, a contributor of global warming. Hypocrite.ruisleipa wrote:

LOL don't you read the thread or wot? Here, just for you I'll copy paste my post from before which I already had to copy paste cos someone else couldn't be arsed to read the thread. IN fact, I'll BOLD the relevant bit for ya.Cybargs wrote:

Anyway, that aside, how can I be a hypocrite? Where have I said that no-one should use a computer? What's that got to do with anything. Nice try tho'ruisleipa wrote:

I have a Nokia but it's about 7 years old (approximately - I bought it secondhand, but it has no colour screen, no music, no vid, no camera, none of that stuff. I can phone and SMS and that's it.) I'll keep using it until it dies and then buy another second-hand basic-as-you-can-get model. So yeah, all the suckers buying new phones every year...I hate that shit.
but, in Nokia's defence, not that they need it, but they are regularly awarded 'green' awards by various organisations:

I also understand they have a quite effective recycling scheme

Not that those things justify the tremendous waste involved with ALL electronic manufacturing.
And inb4 'you're a hypocrite'. Yeah sure I have a PC and a TV and whatnot. But, I can still hate buying shit just for the sake of buying it, and having the latest stuff and whatever.
And FatherTed no, it isn't just a US issue, but the original report mentioned in the article was about the US, hence the howls of outrage from certain Americans around here.
I'm the first to admit everyone has a role to play in reducing waste. Before you buy your next iphone or whatever gizmo ask yourself if you really need it.

This decade has been the worst decade for equities. So he was wrong calling the DOW, but he obviously knew the stock market was over-valued. How much is yet to be seen. The affect of government stimulus, and how long it will last, has proven to be quite the uncertainty at times. We all know it doesn't last forever though.Kmarion wrote:
Yea I saw those "Peter Shiff was right" youtube videos too. Too bad his clients didn't. In 2002 he predicted the DOW at 4000. He was wrong in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and the majority of 2006.Turquoise wrote:
Peter Schiff called it right, and he wasn't alone either. People laughed at him, but in the end, he was the one laughing.Kmarion wrote:
The economy is anything but predictable. I saw a post of everything that was supposed to happen over the last year by so called economic experts. Laughable. I predict nearly no one getting it right this year.. again. If it were predictable, if people truly knew what was over the next hill then this economic slump wouldn't have been this severe. But they didn't.. although they did make money selling the idea of predictability to anyone gullible enough to believe their words.
I'm not saying the majority view of economists is always right, but it's not always wrong either.
Yes, the economy is hard to predict over a short period of time, but there are basic observations and assumptions that can be made for longer periods of time. The weather is much the same. It's the classic, "Even a broken clock is right twice a day" phenomenon.Had you listened to Mr. Schiff at anytime before Oct. 2007, you lost...big. To those who did, there is little consolation in the praise being heaped on him today.
Has it occurred to you the reason they created a marketing recycling campaign is so people believe they are making a good choice, and therefore sell more phones?ruisleipa wrote:
