People throw tantrums when they are mad. When they are happy they don't throw happy tantrums. People are quick to throw out condemnations but less inclined to throw out compliments. It's human nature, certainly not isolated among Muslims. You're a big boy, you shouldn't need this spelled out for you.lowing wrote:
Ya know, when cartoons were published they made a loud and clear statement about it. It is fair to question that lack of zeal regarding atrocities committed in the name of Islam compared to the outrage when attention was drawn to it.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
Maybe because Ramm is Muslim and he thinks the guy with the hook is crazy? You didn't read about it on the internet so Muslims must be complacent about schisms within their own religion. Or, they didn't protest about it so they don't care. Both equally retarded sentiments.lowing wrote:
How can you tell, there are no protests or outrage by Muslims regarding the so called hi-jacking of their religion and acts committed on its behalf. They are silent with such things. However, draw a cartoon then you will see a reaction.
Perhaps you could give the Muslims of the world your direct contact info so they can notify you when a zealot does something the Muslim community at large doesn't agree with?
Pat Robertson is a retard. He was linked to Nicaraguan Contras among other less-than stellar activities. What a noble Christian cause to get behind.
Yeah poor poor Islam, it gets such a bad rap don't they?

Me too, unless I see tens of thousands of Christians marching on the Capitol I'll assume Pat Robertson IS the voice of Christianity in America.Braddock wrote:
PS: I want to see lowing marching in the street on the 6 o'clock news protesting about Robertson's comments or I'll take it as read that he not only agrees with him but actually fully supports them (seen as that is how he judges the Muslim community).
Too right. I actually saw one photo of a muslim protest outside a courtroom, either of the planebomber or the Ft Hood shooter, protesting against extremism.• Lowing has said that Muslims only protest when people insult their religion but do not protest when extremists hijack their religion for nefarious means, that is simply not true. There have been several groups established, and several marches and protests, in several towns and cities around the world speaking out against terrorism in the name of Islam - you just choose to ignore them lowing; and you're certainly not going to chance upon them if all you ever read is 'islam-watch'.
you know what is great about opinions, you can assume anything you wish. Enjoy assuming there is absolutely no difference between the teachings of Islam and Christianity or Islamic life style and western life style.Dilbert_X wrote:

I don't. Especially when it comes to women. Kill all the infidels. Don't worry lowing, we'll save you for last so you can see us over take the world.lowing wrote:

If you feel Pat Robertson speaks for the America, knock yourselves out.
I do not feel Islamic extremists speak for moderate Muslims. I feel moderate Muslims are not practicing their religion as it is taught, Islamic extremists are practicing their religion exactly as it is taught.
If moderate Muslims supported the ban on blasphemy and supported free press and speech then they are not practicing Islam. Only by stifling free press and speech are they practicing Islamic beliefs and as I have said before, this is 180 degrees removed from western values.
Any Muslims out there support free press and speech?
It was most likely the underoo bomber, when he was being arraigned last week--that's the one I remember. And good on 'em, IMO.Spark wrote:

Problem is, whenever someone disagrees with people like you they are hysterical, irrational, evil, ignorant etc. this is classic liberal dismissal and mis-direction. You refuse to face off with an argument. Instead choose denials and dismissals as your weapon of choice. and you all do it.Dilbert_X wrote:
Last time, if all your learnings of Islam are from hysterical, right-wing, christian, anti-moslem internet blogs then there is nothing to discuss with you.
Are Americans rioting in the streets over Pat Robertson's comments?
No?
Then clearly all Americans agree with his hate-filled religious loony nonsense.

You always harp on about moderate Muslims not being 'real' Muslims. What about modern day moderate Jews who are practicing their religion in ways that happily coexist with modern society? Those Jews who do not see it necessary to shun menstruating women, who do not confine women to an education solely rooted in domesticity, who do not follow strict, conservative dress-codes, those who do not stone people to death for blasphemy... are they not 'real' Jews? Every religion adjusts and adapts over time, usually in accordance with social mores, for some reason you seem upset by the fact that Islam is doing just that... you of all people would be happy about this I would have thought.
Notice the mis-direction? I will ask directly. DO you support free speech and press? DO you support the right of a cartoonist portraying Muhammad as a violent, murdereing, pedophile if it is his opinion?13/f/taiwan wrote:

For starters, you do realise that the rules of soccer have been changed many, many times since the sport was first invented? For example...lowing wrote:

If you are not following the teachings of your religion, then you are not practicing your religion. It is as simple as that.
Christ taught peace, forgiveness and tolerance, he di dthis through his words and actions, if you are not practicing that, then you are not practicing your religion.
Muhammad taught violence, submission, war and intolerance, he did o through his words and actions. If Muslims are not following those teachings then they are not following their religion.
If a soccer player insists on using his hands to play soccer, insists that the goal be 2 times bigger, insists that there are no out of bounds, then he is NOT playing soccer, he has come up with a new game and he can not call it soccer.

• Goalkeepers used to be allowed to pick up back-passes.
• Penalty shoot outs were only introduced in the 1950's.
• Extra-time once had the "golden goal" and "silver goal" rule.
• The offside rule has been adjusted so that inactive players are no longer deemed offside.
But anyway back to religion, Christ did not teach anyone anything. Other people wrote about their subjective experiences of Christ's teaching and these documents were themselves translated, adjusted, and amended over the course of the last 2000 years. You have this romanticised view of Christianity because it is one of the most evolved and modernised of the archaic faiths, but it's just as full of shit as the rest of them. Christianity is good because it has been distilled down to the nice peace-loving elements within it. For all we know Christ might have been a misogynistic, racist who was prone to acts of irrational violence... he is after all the man who allegedly chased a load of tradesmen out of a church with a whip!

The fact is, if Islam is modernising and adjusting in accordance with social mores who gives a fuck? Just enjoy the peace and harmony lowing!

Depends on the competition and the governing body! For example a premiership league match will play 90 minutes with no extra-time or penalty shoot-outs, and an English knock-out competition such as the FA cup will have replays in the event of a draw, and penalties in the event of the replay being a draw. By contrast a UEFA match will use the away goals rule and even play with extra referees behind the goal-line... but it's all still soccer! And in any case, using your soccer analogy I could compare Shia Islam to the Premiership and Sunni Islam to the UEFA Champions league. Most religions have divisions and schisms; saying that one extremist interpretation is the only true definition of a religion is ridiculously blinkered and quite ignorant tbh.lowing wrote:

You mean on islam-watch.org? There's also plenty of evidence of Muslims integrating quite happily into Western society, you just choose to ignore it. To illustrate this point I will draw your attention to a of list quotes published by the 'Atheist Ireland' group on the 1st of January to test the new law...lowing wrote:
I do not see Islam as modernizing, I see it as intrusive and ever more demanding of others to accommodate it, rather than Islams determination to assimilate to the west. Like it or not there is plenty of evidence to support that opinion.
