Majority Leader Harry Reid, seeking to quell the uproar from a report in a new book that he called Barack Obama a "light-skinned" African-American who lacked a "Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one," is mounting a full-fledged damage control effort to save both his job and his political career.


Reid phoned Obama directly on Saturday and apologized for his comments, and the president issued a statement saying that he accepted the Nevada Democrat’s apology and considered the matter over.

So he apologize and everything is ok?

Joe Wilson isn't a racist -- he's just a hypocritical idiot.  Jimmy Carter is probably edging towards senility.

As for Reid...  he's a Nevada Mormon.  It's really not surprising that Reid would be a bit clueless on race issues, because he continues to follow a religion that only allowed blacks as members beginning in the 70s.  They apparently believe being black is connected to some "curse" God bestowed on people who were "less valiant" in the war during "pre-existence" between those who sided with God and those who sided with Satan.

It's basically a bunch of hocus-pocus shit.

It sounds to me like he was just being honest about his discription.  Kinda like he was trying sell other Democrats on Obama's ability to run for the presidency.  In his backwards way as Turq described.
