BBC wrote:

Hull boss Phil Brown has led calls for Premier League players at the Africa Cup of Nations to return to the UK after the Togo bus came under gunfire.

The coach driver was killed in Friday's attack in Angola, while two Togo players were also shot and injured.

Hull's Gabon striker Daniel Cousin and Nigerian midfielder Seyi Olofinjana are among 31 Premier League players in Africa for the tournament.

And Brown told The Sun: "I have two players on duty and I want them home."

Defender Serge Akakpo and reserve goalkeeper Kodjovi Obilale were hit in the sustained attack while several other players required hospital treatment and were later seen with bandages on legs, hands and faces.

Do you think it's right for Premier League bosses to call for this? I think it's completely justifiable, the state of Africa is a joke, players getting shot at whilst on buses? Ridiculous. Cancel the AFCON this year.

I'm going to pull off a Cammy/Finray and link you to a topic where it's already been done/discussed:

But anyway, yeah it is pretty fucked up tbh. If this was done, like over here or in the US or something, the tournament would have been instantly cancelled. I always thought it was dodgy to have a place like Angola do it

Ahh, buy this topic is different. This is today's news, about Prem League bosses wanting their players back. Can't blame them tbh.

I agree, the tournament would have been pulled straight away. Damn mental Africans.

If they're gonna do it in Africa, they should stick to the more normal countries. There's loads of better candidates on that continent than Angola. They should have just had it in South Africa. They already had the Confed cup last year as "practice" but they'll need all the practice they can get so they should have been given the African cup too, IMO

Or given it to another more stable country like Ghana or Nigeria, or one of the countries 'oop norf like Egypt/Tunisia

Nigeria? Stable? Are you mad?

More northern countries are more civilised, so yeah, you're right, they'de make much better candidates. Seth Efrikka would be the best choice though. I think they should knock it to every 4 years tbh though.

Yeah I dunno, they seem to have periods of stability then it all goes to shit for awhile, like Kenya, it used to be quite normal until recently

They should have it in the summer as well. Every four years, in the summer. So then we only have to endure one summer without a big cup (Even though the AFCON isn't wildly exciting)

They do it every two years because they want to develop African football/Africa as a whole faster, or something like that

I actually called this happening a few weeks ago when talking about it with my mates. It was obvious that in a troubled very poor country, bringing people with that amount of wealth to a country like that is not gonna work
