The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. So I could ask this question, directly to you Freezer. What speakers could I buy for cheaper that sound better? I'm assuming you hate the Z5500 from experience hearing them yes?
Oh and go as cheap as possible while still sounding better. I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything, I'm just saying I might get some myself cause them Z5500 made me just want to listen to music for some reason, maybe cause they sounded great.

Well the Z-5500s were about $50 more than the speakers I bought and mine are by Klipsch, considered to be one of the top audio companies there are. They actually do audio systems for most of the movie theatres in the world.
Also, as much as I dont like Freezer's elitism, give him a break. There are tons of elitist people on these forums (Uzique as a prime example) yet they dont get nearly as much flak as he does.

i know the smallest fraction of everything. because i've watched IrishGrimReaper, Panzer, Freezer, Sup post, and weigh their judgements against my experience, i feel reading the Tech forum daily enlightens me. if Freezer can't take "Tech Section, srs bsns" in stride (and i'm sure he can) then that get's filed away too - anyone without a sense of humor or that take themselves too seriously will one day find themselves a King without a kingdom.
Them Klipsch look great! Wouldn't mind some myself, my brother will rub them speakers in my face now that his poon my puny Logitech x540. Can't seem the find them Klipsch on a euro site though, only amazon.com(not on the UK version either) and Newegg.
Will say though, they do look great!

The problem is that if you're looking for surround sound in that price range, pretty much everything will pretty much sound the same, the more expensive stuff will just sound more than the cheaper stuff. The exception being the old Klipsch Promedias, which would look very puny next to similarly-priced Logitech/Creative/etc. sets. Unfortunately, they never got a grip on the market with it, so the line went under. Pretty sad. Anyone else following CES? Most of the buzz looks to be centered around 3D. The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 looked cool.. in theory. The screen detached and they had it running linux on the detached screen/slate. When you connect it back to the rest of the device it switched to windows 7.

If I remember right those Klipsch ones use a BASH sub, which burns out frequently, which is why they discontinued the line, I could be wrong though, but check it anyway.
It's the same problem the Gigaworks S750s have, again a BASH sub, I'm on my 3rd one, all credit to Creative support though, no arguments, just send out a new/refurb sub on 3 day delivery for free, even let you keep the old one lol.

Yeah, thats quite a bit. I payed around $550 CAD for mine, including shipping. Plus mine had slight cooling modifications added to it to prevent any burning out as posted above.
